Have you ever heard that expression, the bigger they are the harder they fall? Optimism or blind faith? Perhaps it takes both to defeat the giants in your life.
Way too often we crumble in the face of adversity. The first time we get pressure to conform or fit-in, we forget who we are in Christ Jesus and let the world dictate our actions or reactions. Kinda makes you sick to the stomach to face adversity, doesn’t it?
Well, in light of the times we live in, we had better start to stand against the world’s intimidations and fight the good fight lest we be spewed from our Lords mouth!
Consider the following:
I have read that, in the 15 + minutes it has taken me to write this commentary, 30 women in America have been raped, 88 babies have been aborted, 21 people were divorced, and 154 people died. 23 contracted cancer, 11 contracted HIV/AIDS, 6 contracted tuberculosis, and 63 developed significant cardiovascular disease. 319 new babies were born into the world who need to hear about Jesus, 5 people were injured in auto accidents, 1 person drowned, 3 committed suicide, and 10,000 sexual predators were chatting with their next underage victims online in anonymous chat rooms.
In light of this shouldn’t we get a little Holy Ghost fortitude and take out the giants that would keeps us from proclaiming the soon return of Jesus Christ and the urgent need to witness His salvation plan for man?
You can take out your giants with the sword of the Lord…His Word! Oh, best mention here that you need to know and understand how this weapon works before you try to wield it in battle against our adversary. Fools rush in blindly and are quickly cut to pieces by the opposing force.
God’s Word is a weapon that takes training to use. Superficial knowledge won’t get it when it comes to taking down the giants with this weapon. Satan knows of this weapon and of its power to bring down any adversary. He also knows if the person using this weapon has the authority and knowledge to use this instrument. Therefore, it is imperative that we read the operation manual and totally understand how to use the power it holds. Faith and obedience is the grip we use to wield this sword and belief is the catalyst that looses the power that will destroy the enemy.
No matter how formidable the giant may seem he must fall at the spoken word of God. Learn how to use this weapon and use it well.
Isaiah 54:17 says, “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue [that] shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This [is] the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness [is] of me, saith the LORD.
And in Revelation 2:16, the Lord says, “Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.”
Trained warriors are greatly needed today to take on our adversary. Are you willing to take up the challenge to equip yourself with the full armor of God and learn how to use the power of His Word to cut the enemy down to size?
James instructs us to be doers of the word, not just hearers. I interpret that to mean, “put up or shut up.” A lot of Christians need to get a backbone today and stop letting the world dictate their actions.
The truth of the sword is mentioned in Romans 8:31, “What shall we then say to these things? If God [be] for us, who [can be] against us?”

BRAVO and AMEN! (Where do I sign up?) I wish every pastor in the world would preach this message on the same day. The enemy would tremble! You are so special, Lucian. Don't stop being a 'doer' of the Word. This is a needed sermon that just may recruit others into the serious, front-line Army of God. lg~
