Psalms 54

David was in great Distress when he wrote this Psalm. He was hiding from Saul. He moved place to place, hill to hill and country to country....

1 Samuel chapters 19 to 30, we see that David is running away from Saul and Saul was never tired of chasing David, till his DEATH!. He never gave up searching David. He was determined to find his enemy of no reasons!

In this chapter, David was hiding in Ziph. Everyone knew that Saul was in pursuit of David. So the Ziphites went to Saul and informed him that David is hiding among them. Saul was very happy to hear this. He had been waiting for some good news about David's whereabouts. Saul gave the Ziphites a mission of finding poor David. And that is when David wrote this Psalm....

Read the Psalms now!

Here he cries out to God saying ' Save me and judge me with your might. Hear my pleading and prayer. Give ear to the words of my mouth'

People whom he did not know were against him. He was considered as a terrorist even though he was a God fearing man. He had not harmed anyone other than Israel's enemies when he was with Saul. People who did not know God were against him (v3) and after his life??!!!

V4: But still, David had a hope in the God he believed. A hope in the God, he calls as his Helper and Ally. He says 'it is God who is upholding my life'.

His confidence : When he has entrusted his life to God, he was confident that whatever might seem to be happening around him, nothing can touch him. Was God faithful to David who was running away from Ziph???

David, with faith says, 'I will sacrifice a free willing offering and Praise His name, as God has delivered me out of EVERY trouble'

Yes God brought the Philistines against Israel to save ONE man's life and Saul stopped his pursuit and went to fight the Philistines.

God is Faithful to the people who trust Him, no matter what.
