And the Lord
said to Isaiah,
Go forth to meet Ahaz,
you and ...your son,
at the end of the conduit
of the upper pool
on the highway
to the Fuller's Field...
[Isaiah 7:3]
************************
"Lord, is this TRUE?"
"What, My precious."
"THIS Part!
THIS: about
FULLER'S FIELD?"
"What about it, Mein kinder."
"Well......it kind'a sounds like
a BASEBALL field."
[LAUGH!]
"I'm SERIOUS, Lord!
How come it's NAMED
THAT?"
"Read My Word, child."
"I couldn't find nothin'.
(painful squint)
I still got indigestion, Lord.
Do You think it's the Kosher
PICKLES?"
[PATIENT SMILE.]
"Look, My child."
"Well, I cheated and looked
on the internet. In Your
days, a 'fuller' was
somebody who got the
wool clean, and smooth...
and ready for making
into clothes."
[NOD.]
"There was 'fuller's
clay' that they used
to scrub the wool.
And, a 'fuller's field'
was a place where
there was plenty of
running water, for
the scrubbing,
and bleaching."
[PATIENT NOD.]
"There was
even a 'fuller's
soap': it was made
of plants, and used
for the wool cleaning.
(more squinting)
'Ya know, I HAVE
heard of Fuller's SOAP!"
"Good, child."
"You're a Fuller, too,
aren't You, Lord?"
[PATIENT SILENCE.]
"You ARE, Lord.
You ARE!"
"How do you know, My child?"
"Because,
(deep sigh)
You've been cleaning ME up,
Lord.......
gettin' ME ready!"
"For what, Mein kinder."
"That's a big mystery, Lord.
All I know is, the process
is pretty PAINFUL."
"Be patient, little one."
(sorrowful sigh)
"I don't know, Lord.
I can't take much
more of this scrubbin'."
"Be patient, child.
And, follow Me."

....He is coming,
says the Lord of Hosts.
But who can endure
the day of His Coming.......
For He is like a refiner's fire
and like fullers' soap;
He will sit as a refiner
and purifier of silver.....
[Malachi 3:1-3]
