Here's a thought for you:
There are a bunch of sinners in heaven! Yeah, that's right! Actually, forgiven sinners, but you get the point.
People who have raped, murdered, beaten, stolen, molested, etc., etc. and on and on. People who have done absolutely the most despicable, deplorable, awful things imaginable are in heaven! Terrorists, assassins, saboteurs and dictators, homosexuals, adulterers are in heaven! To be quite honest, if Adolf Hitler (who was a Catholic) had repented and received Jesus as his Saviour by faith could be in heaven. So could Jeffery Dahmer, Stalin, Jung, L. Ron Hubbard (who founded Scientology as a lark to make quick money).
Now, guess who will be in hell? It will be people who have raped, murdered, beaten, stolen, molested, and have done absolutely the most despicable, deplorable, awful things imaginable and terrorists, assassins, saboteurs, dictators, homosexuals and adulterers!
But guess who else will be there? People who were the nicest, kindest, loving and giving people (of all ages) will be in hell! People who sang in the choir, warmed a church pew, worked in a church, worked at the Salvation Army, United Way, PETA, Green Peace, helped the homeless and so on and so on.
"Oh Chris, that's just an awful thing to say, that can't be right!" you say. "God is a loving God and would never send anyone to hell," you say. Well, yes God is a loving God, but he is ALSO a just God! CAREFULLY read these two verses from John 3:18 and 36:
"He that believeth on him (Jesus) is NOT condemned: BUT he that believeth NOT IS condemned ALREADY, because he hath NOT believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth NOT the Son shall NOT see life; BUT the WRATH of God abideth on him."
What do you think about that folks? Those were Jesus own words! Do you believe the words of Jesus? For they are the words of God the Father! He only did what God the Father did, "The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise." (John 5:19)
Let this sink into your heads believers: the first group of sinners I mentioned that are in heaven are there because they received Jesus as their personal Saviour, repenting of their sins toward God! The ones who go to hell...DID NOT repent and accept Jesus as their personal Saviour by faith alone!
Quit trying to remake God into what you want him to be...a "loving"-only God! You need to face the fact that you will have family members going to hell because they did not repent and receive Jesus as their Saviour, while you go to heaven because you DID repent and receive Jesus as your Saviour! I am the only one in my family who has been born again and if it stays that way, when my mom and dad die, my aunts and uncles (if they have still not been born again) WILL go to hell!
Yes it is sad to think about, but we believers don't live like those with no hope! We have a hope. Titus 1:2 says, "In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began."
Your devotion to your family could come back to haunt you if you love your mother and father, etc. more than Jesus.
"He that loveth father and mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me." (Matthew 10:37)
Abide in and love Jesus all the more believers! Amen!
