And, behold
the curtain of the temple
was torn in two.......

[SILENCE.]
"Oy, Lord.
I think I liked You
better, when You were
behind that VEIL!"
"DID you, My child?"
"Huh? Oh! You're there?"
[SMILE. NOD.]
"Uh, not really.
You were always
Big and Angry."
[NOD.]
"I was scared of You:
the Jewish God."
"Why, child."
"Why Y'ur JEWISH,
Lord? Well, how
should I KNOW?
You PICKED IT!"
[CHUCKLE.]
"Why was I SCARED 'a
You?"
[NOD.]
"'Cuz, they TOLD me
so, THAT'S why!"
[NOD.]
"Well.......it WORKED!"
[PATIENT NOD.]
"Hey, Lord;
remember that time
I dropped my little
Torah, on the floor,
when I was a kid?
REMEMBER, Lord:
it was covered in
that little
blue SILK?""
"Yes, child.
I remember."
"I thought I should
fast for 40 days
and 40 nights."
"Did you, My beloved?"
"Uh, uh.
I was afraid to tell
my Mom."
[SMILE.]
"What would she have
said, child?"
"Oh, probably:
'Don't WORRY about it,
Julbie!
He's not MAD at you!'"
(silence)
"Then, why aren't
you listening now,
child?"
"WHAT, Lord?
That Y'ur not
MAD at me?
But, I thought......"
"Read My Word, beloved."
"What: this part?
The oracle of the word
of the Lord to Israel

says the Lord.

(squirm)
That's too personal,
Lord. Like I said,
I kind'a liked You
better, when You
were behind that
tall curtain."
"Yes, I know."
"Maybe, a lot of
people did.
(thoughtful silence)
And, still do.
Maybe, they still
do, Lord."
[NOD.]
"If You're Big,
and Scary, and
Distant......"
"Then what, child?"
"Well.....then, they
don't have to
DEAL with You."
"Ah, but they do, child!
They do."

And Jesus cried again
with a loud voice
and yeilded up His spirit.
And behold,
the curtain of the temple
was torn in two,
from top to bottom;
and the earth shook,
and the rocks were split....
