Jesus, you once said, "Deny yourself, take up your cross and follow me"
Seek Him first and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto thee
He called Zaccheus down from a tree, sometimes I feel He's done even more for me
Is Jesus my Lord? Does He have authority over my life?
Or am I bogged down by my problems and strife?
I'd like to say He is because He's paid the price
To cover my sins, not just any blood would suffice
Only the blood that comes from Jesus - the world's greatest sacrifice
Lord, show me how sin really looks to You
Hopefully then, it will disgust me, too
Give me qualities like goodness, integrity, and virtue
So I can follow you through and through
In your word it says that no weapon formed against me will prevail
So help me to see clearly, lift my eye-covering veil
Sometimes I am blinded by worldly pleasure
When I should be seeking you, my one and only treasure
Lord, thank You for not giving up on me yet
I've pushed You to the limits at times I bet
But the truth remains, You never let go
Despite my rebellion, You loved me so
So now I am trying to let go of my will
Because it's as hungry as an empty hole is to fill
Lord, You know I want to change my ways
And as this is happening, I will give You the praise
Lord, surround me with Your goodness and glory
Help me to let go of doubt and worry
Let me seek Your face in all things so I can see
The mansion that You have prepared for me
And if I can, let me lead others to Your way
So maybe then You can also brighten their day
