There were reports last night
Of a bright Eastern star
Seen by wise men
From near and from far
It seemed to move
Through the cool winter sky
So they came to Jerusalem
Inquiring why
Around the same time
There were shepherds attending flocks
When a bright light scared them
Till they were almost in shock
Then the Lord quickly told them
Please do not fear
For I bring to you great tidings
Of joy and of cheer
It was said that in the city of David
Was born Christ the Lord
And in a show of Heaven’s joy
The angels sang a chord
Now back on the other side of town
There was much ado
For Herod was greatly troubled
And all Jerusalem too
So he told the three wise men
This is what I want you to do
When you find this child tell me
So that I can worship Him too
Upon finding Him they worshiped
And laid gifts by the hay
Then God warned them not to return to Herod,
But go back another way
Now when the shepherds saw the child
And all that was done
They began to spread the news abroad
And tell everyone
There was something great happened in the earth
A virgin gave birth to a son
And in this child was immeasurable worth
To purchase everyone
So last night there was a great stir
And a very great fuss
Because unto us came Emanuel
Interpreted “God with us”
So we have placed this breaking news
On the front page with one accord
Tell everyone salvation is here
Jesus Christ our Lord!
