(Although I wrote this two years ago, I am sharing it again praying that as we celebrate Christmas, may we invite Christ as the special guest in our homes and in our hearts.)

CHRIST in our Christmas

“The angels said to them, “Do not be afraid, I am bringing you good news that will be a great joy to all the people. Today your Savior was born in the town of David. He is Christ , the Lord” ( Luke 2:10, 11 NCV ).

Imagine for a moment a very quiet Christmas. Hush! The baby Jesus is sleeping , wrapped in pieces of clothing and lying in a feeding box, and you’re there alone with Him. A lone, bright star is shining from above bringing magic to that humble place. Somehow, you can’t take your eyes away from His innocent face, so pure, yet full of love and mystery. Just being there in His presence brings a tremendous peace and great joy in your heart…

Until , restlessness sets in ….

You have to do some Christmas shopping. You have Christmas cards to send. Tree to decorate. You have to prepare and get busy for your church celebration, join the carolers, wrap one more gift, make one more trip to the mall. In the midst of them all, you have bills to pay and other errands to do. You suddenly feel emotionally and physically drained. Not only was your pocket empty. Your spirit is empty as well.

The carolers sang, “Joy to the world, the Lord has come!” But even with all the smiling faces around you, you find it hard to be joyful. There’s that empty feeling in your heart. All the gifts, laughter, merriment, feasts and company of friends and loved ones can’t seem to fill that hole in your heart. Whatever happened to Christmas Spirit? You wish ,”Merry Christmas!” yet, you can’t even feel it.

Then a silent voice in your heart whispered, “Happiness depend on happenings. But JOY comes from JESUS CHRIST alone.”

The baby Jesus is waiting. Come to His presence. Gaze at His face again. Feel the serenity of His presence. Fill your heart with His love, His grace , His mercy. Experience His incomparable and priceless gift of joy, peace and hope. Open your heart to Him. That's all He asks from you and me.

Join the choirs of angels as they sing, “Give glory to God in heaven, and on earth let there be peace among the people who please God.”

Let's experience CHRIST in our Christmas. After all, HE is the reason for this season. And may the true Spirit of this very special Season stays with all of us from now on.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Join the choirs of angels as they sing, “Give glory to God in heaven, and on earth let there be peace among the people who please God.” I am joining this choir right now. Thank you for this reminder and challenge to gaze at His face. When we do, we can't help but give glory to Him.

What a beautiful thought Gloria. I am not talking about those who x him out, but about the wonder of realizing that Christ Himself is in our Christmas when we invite Him in. Thank you so much for this beautiful thought. I love you, Sharon

Such a tender reminder to keep our focus on Christ, that the season is all about Him and not about the bustle or expense. Merry Christmas to you, Gloria! Love, Treava

Great reminder, Gloria. It's hard to be joyful with so much going on. I get caught up in my surroundings and forget to just gaze on Him. It would do me some good to just stop and admire Him for a while. (The rest of my family would benefit as well!)

Dear Gloria... What a WONDERFUL reminder about CHRISTmas! YES... the JOY of knowing Jesus is a gift that stays in our hearts whether or not our circumstances are 'happy'. HIS JOY is ever-present in those who seek Him and from that Joy comes great PEACE and LOVE. That is a LOT to celebrate - may you all rejoice and know the JOY of the Lord! Merry Christmas! Love, Peggy
