"Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division."
"Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword."
Does it sound like Jesus came to bring peace to the earth? What do you think?
Also read Matthew 10:35-37, and pay attention to verse 36, "And a man's foes shall be they of his own household." And read Luke 12:52-53. Jesus is telling us that because of our faith and trust in him, those in your own family who do not know Christ and hate the truth even of him, will be divided against you. And if you put mother and/or father before him, we are not worthy to be his. That is powerful stuff! Jesus knew that families would be set against each other so he warned us beforehand about it. I can personally testify to this! I am the ONLY one in my family who has trusted in Jesus; my father goes crazy when I talk about Christ and doubts he even existed!
God called us to be separate from the world, a peculiar people. You can't very well do that if you are shacking up with the ecumenical movement whose sole purpose is unity at any cost. Since the Inquisition ended in 1813, which saw the devastation of Protestants, the Catholic Church has been working on a way to Romanize the world. It actually had a chance to do this back in the days of Kublai Khan, grandson of Ghengis Khan when he had issued an invite to the Catholic Church to send 100 learned men to teach he and his people of Christianity.
However, according to history, this never took place. From 1200 A.D. to 1813 great waves of persecution at the hands of the Catholic Church against Protestants consumed the Eastern Hemisphere. The Catholic Church began breaking apart from the inside out in the 1370's. Some broke free of it, while some merely aimed at reforming the Church from within like Martin Luther. He never left the Church and continued to enact most of its teachings.
Consider the words of John Foxe, author of the "Foxe Book of Martyrs":
"We had too many churches, too many relics (true and fake), too many untruthful miracles. Instead of worshipping the only living Lord, we worshipped dead bones; in place of immortal Christ, we worshipped mortal bread."
-Foxe's Christian Martyrs, published by Barbour Publishing, Inc., pg. 64.
The Catholic Church had a chance to straighten up its house of cards and rebuild under the cornerstone of Christ if it had only taken time to examine its teachings closer to what the Bible says. But it was a no go! The machine was too old and too well built to slow down, let alone stop. Now, over the last several hundred years, the Vatican has regrouped and orchestrated a new campaign...unity. Unity at all cost. The Church is a well-oiled machine and branches out into every part of the world, but it is still not united on the theological front.
The threat to the body of Christ had two parts. Using the Jesuits, a secretive Catholic order, they were sent to infiltrate Protestant churches and break them up from the inside. Over the decades, God's true, sifted church began to break apart. Then the ecumenical movement swept in and swayed the hearts of many a disillusioned Protestants. Many denominations begin to compromise in their doctrine and their views on Catholicism. Here are some examples of the compromise:
"A genuinely personal and biblical view [sees each human being] as made in the image of God and destined for God, a being still capable of responding to God and of serving God in the work of building up the creation. This hopeful view of the human race is personified and enshrined in Mary." -John Macquarrie, Anglican.
"I believe that just as we may see in the theological life of the Virgin Mary, as the Scriptures describe her, a model of justification by faith so we may view the beginning and the end of her story which later traditions, held in different ways by Eastern Orthodox and Roman Catholic have added on to the scriptural deposit, not a distortion from it, but as congruent with it and so as legitimate extensions."
-John De Satge, Evangelical.
See the compromise? If you don't, you are just as blind as the rest! This is only the beginning. Over time I have sought to compile a list of Evangelical compromisers, who have sided with Catholicism (to ANY degree):
Chuck Colson, Billy Graham, Max Lucado (who said, "the sin of disunity causes people to go to Hell!), Promise Keepers, Bill Bright, D. James Kennedy, Benny Hinn, Charismatic movements, Tim LaHaye, etc, etc. This is but a tiny sample of the people and groups that side with the Catholic Church. And see this site for more details:
You're probably asking what any of this has to do with the title of this article, right? Well, it has a lot to do with the title. We are called unto division, separation from unbelievers, from those who bring in damnable heresies and so on. Promise Keepers, an Evangelical men's organization, calls on Christians to "tear down all denominational barriers or walls."
In recent years, the Catholic Church has seen to the unification of major denominations like Methodist, Lutheran, Episcopalian, and even Baptists have yoked up with the Church as it continues to bring everyone back under the Catholic umbrella. Go ahead and Google Ecumenism, Ecumenical Evangelicals, any variation thereof and you will be amazed with what you find.
There is a call for "dialogue" between Catholics and Evangelicals and Catholics and Muslims and Evangelicals and Muslims. Recently a Bishop in the Netherlands called on all Christians to begin calling God Allah in an effort to ease tensions between Muslims and Christians. This is simply ludicrous!!! Yeah, I know I used too many exclamation points but the level of compromise is upsetting, sorry!
In July of 2007, Charismatic Pentecostal leader Benny Hinn held a meeting that lasted for several hours between Muslim leaders and Christian leaders. Some are even (nearly) forsaking their current religion and joining another. An Episcopalian female priest in 2006 became a Muslim and worships at a mosque on Fridays BUT then continues to hold services on Sundays. She claims the two religions are compatible! See this web site for details:
How can any Christian especially born again Christians yoke themselves in ANY way with religions that deny the very core of Christianity? Jesus is the Son of God! Jesus IS God made flesh! Muslims deny this! We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ ALONE! Catholics deny this and present the gospel by adding works and sacraments to it. So for them it is "grace...AND; faith...AND!
The Bible, God's Word says faith...PERIOD! Nothing more, nothing less! There are a billion (no lie) people in the Catholic religion around the world. Along with other religions (Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons, Islam, Hindu, pseudo-Christian religions) they are the mission field!
Oprah (who claims to have been raised in a Baptist home, but does not know what 'born again' means! You can be raised in a Christian home and in a church 24/7 but that doesn't mean you're saved! Oprah's close friend and sometimes guest, Shirley MacLaine described on a show how to meditate, going inside yourself, asking your own "intuitive Self" to seek answers to life's questions. Oprah responds, "You know, that is the same as the Bible says, 'Ask and it shall be given, seek and ye shall find'." Shirley confirms. Oprah then asks Shirley, "When you connected to the higher Self...knowing that you can do anything that you want to do-is it what other people describe as being 'born again'?" Shirley nods, "Yes, probably."
And on another show, Oprah openly denied that Jesus is the ONLY way to Heaven. On the following web site, you can watch the video clip and be sure to pay attention to the dialogue between Oprah, the guests (New Agers) and the audience:
In John 14:27, Jesus did talk about peace and just WHO he was going to give it to:
"Peace I leave with YOU, MY peace I give unto you: NOT AS THE WORLD GIVETH, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." Only the peace that Jesus gives to believers will satisfy us. It is not given to the whole world, only to believers, to those who accept him as their personal Saviour!
I can't imagine what excuse any Christian will have when he or she find themselves standing before Jesus as to why they compromised his gospel, sold out to a religion that claims to Christian, and espoused heretical teachings that kept people out of the kingdom of God. There is simply NO, NO, NO room for dialogue with ANY world religions other than to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with them in the hopes that they will receive him as their personal Saviour by faith alone! I am going to share with you one final Bible passage and I hope you will all take it to heart:
"Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? Or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? For ye (you) are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you."
-2 Corinthians 6:14-17
