If God tapped you on the shoulder,
or whispered in your soul’s ear,
that your time to come home
was soon drawing near,
would that change your
resolution for the upcoming year?
Would that house, that job,
or the money you’ve acquired,
be as important to you then,
if in 2008 that you expired?
Has all you’ve achieved
been worth the cost,
or has arrogance blinded you
to all that you’ve lost?
Would the years of conflict
caused from bitterness of heart,
still keep you and others,
so far apart?
Consider all he time that’s been
wasted, bearing a sword,
when by refusing to forgive others,
you’ve been out of fellowship with your Lord.
If others refuse to end the strife,
then let it go, and get on with your life.
Forgive yourself and then all others involved
and consider the matter at your end resolved.
Would the knowledge of knowing,
that your time was reaching its end,
cause you to reconsider,
how 2008, you should spend?
If in 2008, He takes you home
to your mansion in glory,
how many others will also be there,
because with them, you shared, salvation’s story?
Of all the things you can give
to the ones you will leave behind,
it’s the Gospel Message and the Word of God
that’s worth the most, their souls will find.
If your knew that 2008 was
going to be your last earthly year,
would you be looking forward to it,
or would you be shaking with fear?
God so loved you that
He gave you His only Son,
that if you believe in Him,
your eternal security is a deal done.
Our going home will be neither early nor late
because it is God who has set the date.
But by living as if 2008 were our last year, it’s true
you would make the best of the time, He has given to you.
