Upon the sea of lustrous cloths,
I cast an eager eye.
Which of these goods so wonderful
Will be the one I’d buy?
Perhaps the pearly pink will do,
Or maybe lightest blue,
And even seafoam green is nice.
I like the purple, too.
Should I select a soft cashmere,
Or shiniest sateen,
The silk that is so swishy,
Or richest velveteen?
As for the trim, might I like lace
Or dainty eyelet white?
The bright gold trim all braided up
Is quite a pretty sight.
And then there are the patterns bold
And varied as can be.
The long, the short, or the mid-length--
Which would be right for me?
And next I’ll need to get some thread
In colors that will please,
And buttons of some fancy shapes
As my accessories.
And last of all I’ll want to find
A seamstress who’ll be sewing
A robe most beautiful to wear
In heaven where I’m going.
Then I awake from deepest dreams
And shopping heavenly.
To know for sure God will supply
The perfect robe for me.
