I read a notation the other day of a Greek poet and physician that lived around 200 B.C. - his name was Nicander.
Nicander wrote a pickle recipe and used two words to describe the "immersion" or "Baptism" of the pickle.
He writes that the first process in making a vegetable a "Pickle" is to "Bapto" it which means to dip in boiling water and then the second part of the process is to "Baptizo" the vegetable in a vinegar solution.
The first process is only temporary yet the second is permanent. In the same way dear child of God when you were immersed into Christ through faith in His death, burial and resurrection the change in you became Permanent.
Dear believer I encourage you to remember today and every day that you can no more become a lost sinner again then a pickle can become "Unpickled."
Be encouraged with the words that the writer of the letter to the Hebrews has written:
By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once [for all]. Hebrews 10:10
For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified. Hebrews 10:14
