Absalom, beautiful, bold, brazen but base,
Deceived by looks, resorted to usurping the throne
With wrong motives pleaded their case
Longed to make David’s Kingdom his own
‘I will ascend to the top, to the great tower’
He said, like Satan; plotted little by little
Booted his father away because of hunger for power
Stole the heart of the people who were fickle
On the day of battle his beauty betrayed him
His strength became his weakness and waterloo
He lost his life, ambition and all the dream
Those who were deceived were left high and dry too
"Oh, my son Absalom, my son! would God
I had died for thee!" was David’s lament.
Beloved, even when disdained his word.
His love for him went to a great extent.
Something to think about.
