On the eve of Yule tide
From merry making none could hide
So was young Gerald who did ride
A new bike shifting from side to side

Attraction of his friends to gain
Perilous actions he did in vain
Not knowing his parent’s pain
Pride of life his thoughts did stain

Mortal friends make you good or bad
Mostly many flee when you are sad
‘Can anyone make me feel glad?’
Questions your cold heart appearing snow clad

Gerald’s mother had made a vow
To the Almighty she did bow
‘Lord! Keep Gerald from any blows
Please brighten his life like a sun that glows

Daily for many days she shed tears
‘No change’ in neon light spread fears
It seemed a year chase many years
When Gerald posed as if deaf were his ears

Yet, firm was her faith in God
That remained a seed within a pod
“With rod of compassion God will nod
Hey My son Gerald is after all just sod”

There stood Gerald yielding to temptation
Drinking and smiling without any botheration
“Tomorrow is Christmas young men rejoice!
Let’s carol the king on top of our voice!”

He mocked the King of kings
When Christmas bells did ring
He sung and made fun
Drinking and tasting toasted bun

Can you the Creator mock
Three in One - the eternal rock
Remember, Light on Damascus road did block
Saul who kicked God’s own around the clock

There is power in His name
Therefore, none can cause any shame
To others, He never surrenders His fame
Truly unchanging, forever the same

There on the road Gerald did lay
Smeared all over with dirty clay
When fully drunk he lost the way
His senses told it was Christmas day

‘I must get up come what may’
Although staggering he did say
Finding no friends to his dismay
Wondered, ‘How long here did I stay?’

At that moment he saw a vision
It was then God began His mission
Response to a mother’s cry
Resurrection of a soul so wry

Christ as babe and as Crucified One
He appeared to His little son
Rays from Three in One on Gerald fell
As if he were pulled from a deep well

A shiver went down his spine
As he got attached to the True Vine
Three in One became his best friend
Then on, no more of personal friends

On that Christmas his parents did rejoice
Heavens knew he became God’s choice
For the first time he raised his voice
Offer prayers for accepting him a novice

Remember Christ as babe and the crucified One
Give room in your heart for the Three in One
Make this Christmas a memorable one
Welcoming into your home the holy One
