We looked for peace,
but no good came;
for a time of healing,
but behold, terror.
[Jeremiah 14:19]
******************************
"I'm disappointed in You, Lord."

[SILENCE.]

"My prayers never get answered;
so, what the heck?"

[SILENCE.]

"I don't know; all I know is
I'm disppointed. Some other people
tell me about You......"

"Who, child?"

"Huh? Eh, You know, Lord:
those Christians. I think they
mean well, but....."

"Tell Me, child."

"Well, they really expect a LOT
of You. Sometimes, I wonder if
they're just really naive."

[PATIENT SILENCE]

"I'm SORRY, Lord!
But, I think they're all
expecting You to SAVE them, or
somethin'!"

"Ah. And what do you think,
My beloved?"

"Eh, I don't know.
I mean, it's a romantic idea and
all, but....."

"But what, My child?"

"Well, sometimes I'm afraid that
it's really just a nice STORY.
Actually, it's not even that, huh?
It's pretty brutal, and horrible!"

"Yes, My beloved."

"So, Lord?
What should I believe: this STORY,
or the facts that I see all around me?"

"TELL Me these facts, child."

"......That it's a scary and terrible
world, and that there's no one....."

"To save you, My precious?"

"Yeah, I guess."

"Yes, child. That is all true,
but for one thing."

(sigh)
"What's THAT, Lord?"

"I have already saved you."
********************************
My sheep hear My voice,
and I know them,
and they follow Me......
No one shall snatch them
out of My hand.
My Father, Who has given them
to Me, is greater than all,
and no one is able to snatch
them out of the Father's hand.
I and the Father are One.
[John 10:27-30]
