With thanksgiving approaching, thoughts of my Mama flood my heart every single day. Not a day goes by that I don't miss Her. I think that if there was ever any one that could love me with all of my stuff, it was my Mama. By this time she would be making sure that I show up for whatever family function is going on. She would have gotten with everyone to see who is bringing what. And even though she did not have to because I have a brother that has a heart as big as Texas who usually opens His home up to the entire family every year; our Mom would still be cooking like a mad woman. Sweet potatoe pies, dressing, potatoe salad. You can only imagine!
I found myself getting sad and feeling somewhat alone this year; and I heard the spirit of the Lord say; in all things give thanks. What better way to thank God this year for a Mother that gave both us and our children memories, and unconditional love. I pray Father for all who may be feeling somewhat alone this season. I ask that you comfort your people in a way that only you can. Give them the joy of seasons past to carry them into this time. Strengthen relationships that may be broken and heal hearts that may be hurting. So that in all things - we give thanks.

Cassandra,
My heart was touched by this little piece. I still have my mama in this life but my grandmother was like a mother to me. When she went home to be with JESUS.... I was happy for her, but sad for all of us. I wrote her this little song..... I thought the lyrics might warm your heart.
You've left us for awhile.
We'll miss your lovely smile.
But death cannot erase
Sweet memories that took place.
Although you've gone away.
In our hearts you'll always stay.
Our gift from God above - Our legacy of love.
Your legacy of love with us will remain echoing the truths your life did proclaim.
The torch has now been passed.
We raise it unashamed - Your legacy of love.
You're with Christ above
And Christ is here with me.
We're really not a part. There's just a veil between.
You will always be etched in my memory... Our legacy of love.
Your work on earth is done.
Life's final war you've won.
This one thing we know.
You've left footprints in our soul.
We'll keep marching on.
We'll keep singing all your songs.
Until we reach Heaven above to see our legacy of love.
Bless you, my new friend,
Dixie
Dear Cassandra... You have given all of us such a blessing with this special reminder to give Thanks unto the Lord, for He is with us in all circumstances with unconditional love! Yes, Lord, we say 'thank you' as we seek to use the blessings You have bestowed upon us to glorify Your Name and spread Your Word. Please also ease the pain Cassandra is feeling and replace it with a warm, loving feeling as she remembers her dear Mom. May she be lifted up rather than dragged down - and help her to look UP to YOU and be filled with Your priceless gift of love! May You bless all who are lonely and sad during this beautiful season and let them feel Your Peace and the JOY of truly knowing You! AMEN! With love, Peggy
