Babe and the Toast
Nov 29, 2001
By: Rick L. King
We have a dog, named Babe
Of a linoleum floor, he has such fright
When he tries to walk on it
It is, such a hilarious sight
He spreads his toes
And hangs his head down
As we try to get him to come
He acts like, such a clown
He just cannot walk
His efforts will just not suffice
He slips and slides all over the place
It seems, that he thinks, he is on ice
He usually turns around
And just goes back to the door
As he hasnít figured out how
To master, that linoleum, floor
Babe likes toast
Why, I just do not know
But the Lord has shown to me a key
That may help someone else, to grow
I stood on the other end
Of the linoleum floor
With a piece of toast in hand
Opposite, where he stood at the door
I held it out for him too see
To my amazement, he came to me
And ate the toast that he liked
The floor no longer offered fright
There is a lesson here
That I want to share
As God uses many things
To help us, become aware
The floor is but circumstances
When he looked at them, he could not walk
He hung down his head
And at my command, he balked
The toast is representative of Jesus
Or the goal or the prize
Circumstances are not a problem
With the correct focus, in our eyes
There are many things, which we have believed
Some of which are untrue
But if we will focus on Jesus alone
There is nothing, through Him that we cannot do
If what God said is really true
Then a choice we must make
Do we listen to our imaginations?
Or just follow the road, which Jesus said to take?
God said that we must cast down
Those imaginations, that are in our head
And bring all our thoughts, into captivity to Him
We are to walk obedient to Christ, instead
I pray this experience with Babe
Has dispelled some of the enemies lies
That you will believe Godís Word alone
And not allow circumstances, to cloud your eyes.
