In a Christian fellowship group I am a part of, the subject of the blood of Christ Jesus came up. The comment made was that the blood of Jesus is being trivialized and even removed from doctrinal teaching because it might be an "icky" issue to deal with.
Well, I say TO BAD! Being "washed in the blood of Jesus for the remission of our sins" is the most vital of doctrinal teachings there is! If we start deminishing or heaven forbid, removing the blood of Jesus as the backbone of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, we are essentially denying Christ, thusly denying God the Father, the one who sent Jesus to shed his wonderful, powerful blood on the cross.
Revelation 1:5 says, "Unto him that loved us, and WASHED us from our sins in his own blood." It doesn't get much clearer than that folks! Here is what John the Apostle said in his first of 3 letters: "...and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin."
We are God's flock (the church-that is the body of the believer) and we were purchased, paid for, with the blood of Jesus. Acts 20:28 says this, "...which he hath purchased with his own blood." Moreover, Jesus' shed blood makes it possible for us to directly approach God.
Remember what happened in the Gospels (e.g. Matthew 27:50-51), when Jesus died, the veil in the Temple blocking off the Holy of Holies was torn completely apart, top to bottom? Look at Hebrews 10:19-20, "Having therefore, brethern, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh."
So without the blood of Jesus, we would still be shut out of the Holy of Holies, shut off from God. And when we remove the blood of Jesus, we subject ourselves to God's judgment: "Much more then, being NOW justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him." (Romans 5:9)
When you start removig the blood of Jesus Christ because it may repulse your sensabilities, you start looking for another way into heaven. But you will only end up failing BADLY!
And not only is his blood vital, but so is his name: "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other NAME under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." (Acts 4:12)
And look at Acts 22:16. Paul is recalling comments and instructions given to him through Ananias in Damascus, "And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord."
Philippians 2:10-11 really says it perfectly: "That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."
And lets not forget that, "In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins." (Colossians 1:14)
So Jesus' blood AND name are unlike ANY other to ever exist in all of history! They ALONE have the power to save! As born again believers we MUST remember this fact and hold on to it with every fiber of our being. And for unbelievers, they are THE most important things they will ever hear of!

yes..a lot of churches do not want to talk about the blood of Jesus..the bible is still a bloody book..There is power in the blood..as well as power in his name..that is why I believe the apostles always baptized people in the name of Jesus!
