In today’s Christianity, it is hard for a Christian to meditate on God’s word and tell others because they think that is just for fun, but it is a serious business. The fear of the unknown has gripped the heart of believers now. Do we still see people who really dedicate their lives to God take control in time of drought and loneliness? They stand up to what they believe, and they will not deny God, but when little problems occur the beloved in Christ are tempted to bow down to man-made gods which they think are solutions to problems. Although the problems may be solved, they aren’t permanently the way they wanted it to be, because foreign gods can’t save them. One might think that the problem has ended but it is still waiting, it just went away for awhile. This occurs mostly in the lives of Christians who forget that Christ came to this world to carry our burdens away. Because of impatience, you’re made to deny the death of Christ upon your life.
The Apostle Paul told the early Christians in Corinth to be courageous in their Christian race, though there would be temptations. God has given the grace to stand and overcome those that may come your way. So the devil and his angels will come to test your faith, but do you know that you have been given the grace to overcome? The scripture says
” No temptation has over taken you, expect such as allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it”(1Cor 10:15)
Why do you fall into temptation and die with it? Because you submitted part of your body for Christ and another part for man-made gods and to the love of this world. There were certain people in the land of captives, and because these people disobeyed the voice of God by bowing down secretly not knowing God saw them, God used their enemy to teach them a lesson by putting them into captivity for a period of time. He wanted these people to know that he is God.
Among these people were special men with the hand of God upon them who had serious relationships with God. They also took part in the punishment of their people, not knowing that He wanted to use those men to tell his people that he is God. When they got to the land of their enemy who took them captive, it was getting to a time when the king of that land wanted to exalt himself by his own strength. He made himself a golden image that everybody must worship, both young and old, they must bow down before his golden image. But when this group heard about what the king said, they were not pleased with the decision of the king. Though they were in a foreign land they would not bow down for any strange gods because their own God was alive and able to deliver them from this king’s law. And to this foolish king, God gave the power to overcome his people, because they do not recognize him.
After the king made a golden image for his people, and the people bowed down for this image, to my own surprise these captives began to bow down too. They had totally forgotten their God who had delivered them; so they joined the king’s people and bowed down out of the fear of the king.
He had decreed they must, or they would die in a fiery furnace. This also happens in our world today. Because of the fear of humans, we lack confidence in what we believe. So when the king ordered the sound of the trumpets, there were some special men who made up their minds not to bow down to the king’s image because they could not deny their God. So they made a great decision that affected the whole nation; people were looking at them to see if they were going to change their minds, but these men said they would rather disobey the voice of man and obey the voice of the Creator. So they were taken away from the king because they did not obey the king’s command and that made him angry, so much so he asked his servants to double the burning of the fire and thrust them in it. He said to them do you have any other God except my own god that makes you have such boldness?
They simply replied, “Yes, our God is able to deliver us from your burning fiery furnace because we will not bow down for your golden image that can not talk or move and even if our God does not deliver us, we are still not going to worship your god, so let it be.” Those young men had confidence in their God.
