The Normal State of Our Spirit

What is peace?
But the normal state of our spirit
The state we need to be in
If we are to follow the Holy Spirit
When the beginning of a day
We try to embark
Without God’s peace
We most likely will miss the mark
When troubles come
And our spirit is not at ease
It is time to stop
And get it back to normality
This may mean we need to praise
To put the enemy to flight
We may need to pray
As the Holy Spirit shows what isn’t right
It may mean we are going a wrong direction
So back to square one we need to go
Jesus may have something else in mind
There be a truth we need to know
It may mean that self is in the way
Of just what Jesus wants to do
And if we keep going that direction
The enemy’s camp we do pursue
Many people just ignore
Their spirit in unrest
So it leads them to great problems
And they miss the Lord’s best
No peace is then a signal
That we must listen too
We must stop what we are doing
And allow the Holy Spirit to show us what to do
The normal state of our spirit
We need to really learn
And trust that when it is missing
We may have made a wrong turn
Peace is God’s provision
When we walk in the right way
When our mind is thinking right
And our words are correct to say
God said to follow after peace
So to His Word we need to go
And see all the things that take it away
If in Jesus we desire to grow.
