In the far off land of Fallenback,
Is a tiny town called Slipperyslope,
A town that seems so heavenly,
Where people smile and never mope.
I came across this little town,
Some years ago when I was young,
A time I nursed a broken heart,
With bitter taste upon my tongue.
The town was neat; the air was clean,
And so I thought I'd hang around,
And try to feel a bit of cheer,
Instead of wearing this old frown.
It first appeared that all was fine,
I fit right in, or so it seemed,
And then I saw the awful truth,
Was not the way that I had dreamed.
The citizens were going nowhere,
Just one step forward, two steps back,
And all emotions were on hold,
For there were two things that they lacked.
They had no vision and no dreams,
Though smiles were glued upon each face,
And everything just stayed the same,
For changes they would not embrace.
I knew that I could never stay,
Where life was stagnant; so unreal,
And though my heart was torn in two,
At least I knew that I could feel.
I ran away from Slipperyslope,
And far away from Fallenback,
I knew my heartache could be cured,
And I could get my life on-track.
And now I know I will endure,
The things that life puts in my way,
I learned from those in Slipperyslope,
My dreams and visions will not stray.
