The Pencil In God’s Hand

Jeremiah 31:33 “But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.”
As I go along life’s way,
I’m writing a sermon everyday.
However, I don’t know the direction of God’s plan;
So, I need to put the pencil in God’s hand.
I’ve been writing my life my own way;
And, as I write, I send my life astray.
I’m holding the pencil so very tightly
Until I mess up many times as I write me.
So, I keep having to go back and erase;
But, God allows me to rewrite by His grace.
However, I continue to mess up
Because my small knowledge and understanding is not enough
To write down the perfect story;
And, my pride makes me write so that I can get the glory.
I’m writing what I want people to see
In hoping that they would honor me.
That’s why my life is in such a mess;
I write with my own thoughts; I even, sometimes, guess,
Trying to figure out exactly what’s the best thing I should do;
And, I find myself writing more trouble for me to go through.
Well, I’m at the very point in my life
That I’m simply tired of my own created suffering and strife;
So, I have decided to put the pencil down
Because with my writing, no peace can be found.
As I lay my own plan to rest,
I ask God to give me His best.
Lord, take this pencil out of my hand
So that You can write my life according to Your plan.
If you write it, it will be the perfect story;
And, You, my Lord, will get all of the glory.
I’m not wise enough to understand the way,
Which is why I keep writing myself astray.
You are all-knowing in all that I do,
And, You can erase the troubles I’ve written me through.
Lord, I give up my will and accept Your will for me
Because my will is written with turmoil, sorrow and misery.
Lord, I will no longer write my life
Because I no longer want to experience unnecessary heartache and strife.
Lord, take the pencil in Your hand
So that You may write me into Your divine plan.
If you’re tired of the mistakes you’re writing in your life everyday,
Give God the pencil so that He can write your life His way.
If God gets the pencil, your life will no longer be a mess.
Instead, it will be a beautiful sermon called “blessed”.
Give God the pencil so that He can write His plan
Because your life will end up a mess if the pencil remains in your hand.
Put the pencil in God’s hand today
So that you will no longer write your life away.
Your life will be a sermon for many others to read
If you take a step back and let God lead.
If you’re writing your own story,
God cannot and will not get the glory;
And, your life will no longer be a sermon according to God’s plan.
It will only be a mess that no one can understand.
Stop writing your life according to the way you think it should be,
But give God the pencil so that He can get the glory.
If you’re still wondering why your life is in such a mess;
And, continuously wondering why you never receive the best,
It’s because you’re writing your life according to your own plan;
But, if you’re tired of trouble, put the pencil in God’s hand.
If you write according to your own will,
God surely will not foot the bill
Because you are writing in things that unnecessary
And making your load a lot heavier to carry.
However, if you allow God to do it His way,
The cost of His will, He will surely pay.
So, give God the pencil; let Him write the story
Because it only works for your good when God gets the glory.
God will surely write His will within your heart
So that from His plan and purpose, you will not depart.
I encourage you this last time to put the pencil in God’s hand
Because God’s story is perfect because its written according to His divine plan.
