Sometimes we get so caught up in our day to day lives, we forget our true purpose, our true calling, our true Love. It is at those times we can become distanced from our faith and devotion to Christ. It may happen so gradually you don’t even realize it at first. It may be a missed church service or a missed bible reading that circumstances of life caused you to miss. It may be you get up late and skip your devotion time. After the first hint of distance, there is an invisible gap created in your fellowship with God.
Or maybe you haven’t fallen away. It could be that you are so busy reading other Christian books or busy studying your bible, caught up in learning about Old Testament times and all the great stories that just maybe you have neglected Jesus for a while. Or you’ve been so busy working for the kingdom - you haven’t taken any time to spend with the King. Stop and go to a quiet solitary place if possible and just talk to Him - One on one. Tell Him everything. Sing praises to Him. He is always waiting patiently for us to come. Can’t you hear Him calling you?
Our Sunday school teacher talked about this yesterday and it really hit home with me. How long has it been since I’ve read through Matthew, Mark Luke or John? How long since I’ve read about the cross, since I went back to the cross and delivered my repentance there? Too long…..
If you know Him, take time today to fall in love with Jesus all over again today, don’t put it off. Meditate on all that He has done for you. Everlasting life! Think about that for a moment. He paid the price with His life to give us everlasting life. Go back to the cross and lay everything down at the foot. You can do this in your heart. Your heart is all He’s looking at. The thing that God wants most from us is our unconditional surrender to Jesus. Peter said; “Cast all your cares on Him, for He careth for you.”
If you don’t know Him, start today to get to know Him. I believe everyone knows deep in the recesses of their hearts whether or not they are a true child of the King. If you are not, you cannot have a relationship with Jesus. You may have a form of religion, but denying the power thereof. It’s ALL about Jesus. He is the key to eternal life in heaven and abundant life on earth. And if you don’t have Jesus, you don’t have anything……
