More Love, More Power
Jan 1, 2007

Some time ago, the Holy Spirit gave me this message to share with a group I fellowship with on Monday nights. The beginning of this message seemed to start as we sang the song in the group called More love, more power. As I worshiped the Lord with this song, His presence came intensely and I was nearly slain in the Spirit as I sang. Later, as I was worshiping the Lord at home, I sensed that He wanted to talk to me. His presence was so intense, I could not even speak, only write down what He said to me. At the end of what He told me, I was finally able to ask Him what He wanted to do in our group. He told me, More love, more power. This article is based on what He shared with me.
In 1 Corinthians 13 we read:
1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
We are in a time that we desire to see and experience God’s power manifesting through us to bring change to people around us that are struggling and hurting. God desires to pour out His spirit upon us in power. Yet, if we are not changed we will pollute the gifts. Notice the words above say without charity (love) nothing will profit us. The greatest power that exists is God. God is love (1 John 4:8). Love covers a multitude of sin. Love never fails. If we have God, we have love, and as a result we have power. The problem is that we seek the power not the one that gives it. We seek the healing, not the healer. We seek the deliverance, just not the deliverer. We seek the provision, not the provider. We seek the comfort, not the Comforter. God desires to have an intimate relationship with each one of us. For that to happen, we must die. He that loses his life shall find it (Mathew 10:39). This has a cost of course. It costs us everything, our carnal life. Once we become intimate with the Lord through the Holy Spirit, we will have all of the power we need to do what He asks us to do. Jesus did what He saw the Father do not what He wanted to do. Jesus said that He and His Father were one (John 10:30). If Jesus and the Father are one, and Jesus dwells in us through the Holy Spirit, then we also can become one with the Father as we learn to lose our life in Him. If our desire and focus would change to become one with the Father and have the intimate relationship with Him that He desires, we would see all of the power that we could handle flowing through us.
The gifts of the Spirit are glorious to have; yet they do not require us to become intimate with the Holy Spirit except for the time they manifest through an anointing. God wants us to become intimate with Him all of the time, not just when we get anointed. Just as the disciples sat at the feet of Jesus and had intimate two-sided talks with each other, God desires for us to have the same. This is why we have been given the Holy Spirit, to carry on a personal relationship with the Father as Jesus did. God looks deeper than we do. We seem to want the gifts at times more than we want Him. If we would develop an intimate relationship with Him, He would give to us whatever gift is needed to accomplish what He requests us to do. An intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit will produce the gifts of the Spirit and the fruit of the Spirit.
I have watched a friend of mine that has been on a quest to become intimate with Jesus. I have watched her change drastically. She is being filled with such love where she was once struggling with being religious. She has become a prayer warrior and intercessor. She is seeing answers to her prayers quickly as people are changing that God has shown her how to pray for. She has found a great anointing and become powerful in the work of the ministry. This happened because she sought intimacy more than the gifts. She sought Him more than what He does. She is a testimony of the great things that can happen when we seek intimacy with the Lord first and foremost.
God desires to fill us with more love and more power. To have more power, we first need to have more love, the greatest power there is, God. I pray that this article may help someone to have a focus change and find the intimacy with the Lord that He desires for us to have. More power will come as a result.

I am so happy that you wrote this piece about love. To love is the greatest commandment and we'll never reach people without first using love. God is love, so to receive love in our hearts we have to receive Him. I pray God's blessings upon your life and that He continues to inspire you for His purpose.
