Take the right direction
Do not be left behind
The decision is your to make
Stop wasting your time
A better life you will have
Troubles will still come
They will be easier to handle
Jesus is there by your side
Jesus is just a step away
He is waiting on you
Do not listen to others
Who try to hold you back
Go in the right direction
Do not be left behind
When you make that decision
Then you can help others
To find that right path
As you have finally done
Then they will not be left behind

Hi Laura:
I like this poem. It is kind of an altar call with a touch of the rapture to it, I think. Altar call/exhortation poems are pretty tough and don't usually feel poetic unless they're in a song. And this works like one of the old Baptist songs. My only suggestion would be: Define more clearly for your readers what "Left Behind" implies. In your poem, it seems to mean left behind on the present life course you're taking. But it could also mean left behind in the rapture. And many will take it that way. I like the idea that if they are not left behind, they will join in helping others to not be left behind. This poem works as a hymn. In the onward Christian soldiers tradtion. I like those hymns although many modern Christians are more into the maranatha type songs. Have you ever heard of the hymn society? They're a group that makes new hymns. Very good.
