The Body is the temple

"What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?"
-1 Corinthians 6:19

"And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people."
-2 Corinthians 6:16

"And he is the head of the body, the church."
-Colossians 1:18

Christ is the head of the church folks--NO one else! Not Peter, NOT Mary--NO human being since the time of Christ is the head of the church. That verse from Colossians quoted above should solidify it for you, (that is if you believe the Word of God!) and I hope you born again believers reading this do!

Since "all Scripture is given by inspiration of God", (2 Timothy 3:16), God tells us that we should believe it! We are members of the body of Christ, the head of the church, made up of ONLY born again believers. Our individual body makes up the church--NOT some building around the block you sit in for an hour and CERTAINLY NOT some fancy building in ROME!

In the first century (1-100 AD) born again believers met in their homes or outdoors. Our body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, who indwells within us. Jesus told the Jews in the temple after he chased all the animals out, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up." (John 2:19) Now look at verse 21: "But he spake of the temple of his body."

Christ and every born again believers' body is now the temple of God. We have replaced the structure that used to stand in Jerusalem until 70 AD. There will not be a 3rd temple in Jerusalem or sacrifices for sins or for ceremonial reasons--that is unless you are a Christian Zionist, or a Futurist or End Times heretic like Hal Lindsey, Tim LaHaye, Jack Van Impe, etc., just to name a few.

Jesus Christ is Israel's eternal salvation! It is simply ridiculous to think that with what John says in 1 John 2:2, "And he is the propitiation for our sins: and NOT for ours only, but also for the sins of the WHOLE world", to think that there is a separate salvation for Israel.

Now don't misunderstand, I am not hating on Israel or anything like that. But Scripture makes it clear that Jesus the Christ was the Jewish Messiah, the Savior of the whole world--Jews and Gentiles!

Do you believe in Replacement Theology? You should--it's what Jesus did on the cross. Jesus (being the new covenant) replaced the old covenant and with the destruction of the temple building in Jerusalem in 70 AD by the Romans, permanently sealing the fate of the old sacrificial system, completed the demise of the old covenant.

Look at Hebrews 8:13, "In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away." So, we have learned that Jesus Christ is the head of the church; born again believers make up the church; our bodies are the temple of the Holy Ghost (God); Jesus is the new covenant and by the Scriptures, there will NOT be a 3rd temple or any more sacrifices!

Phew!

Here too is a closer look at how Christ is the Rock, NOT Peter, like the Catholic Church loves to espouse. Go to 1 Corinthians 10:1-5. Paul recounts here how God travelled with the Israelites, guiding them and protecting them. Look at the last part of verse 4: "...and that Rock was Christ." Jesus, who is God incarnate/made flesh, is the Rock. This reference to Jesus (God) goes all the way back to Deuteronomy 32. This chapter is a song Moses recited to the assembly of Israel. Look at verses 3 and 4. Verse 4 says, "He is the Rock, his work is perfect."

Keep in mind that last portion and go to Luke 2:49. Jesus as a child remained behind at the temple while his mother and Joseph headed home, thinking he was with them. When they go back for him, they find him at the temple, where he calmly responds to their worry with this: "How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?"

Business is another way to say work; if you conduct business, you are working. Jesus fulfills all of God's work during his ministry by being perfect, in ALL sense of the word. There are numerous other times in the Old Testament that show God is the Rock. And since Jesus is God made flesh, Jesus is also the Rock and NO one else!

Be sure to look for a future article on false End Times teachings and the people that teach them!

God bless.
