These are called Snap-Shorts and were written for a mini-challenge.
They have no connection other than they are all fifty words or less.
Gutless Fred
“I’m goin’ for it!”
“Fred, no! It’s suicide.”
Heedless, Fred heads into the wind and picks up speed with the target in sight.
Gasps fill the air as Fred disappears and the truck windshield whizzes past.
Betsy sobs.
“Poor Fredrick Bee, he’ll never have the guts to do that again!”

A glance confirmed the empty space.
A sigh spoke her loneliness.
Visions of another place, another smile filled her mind.
Deception clothed her with an answer.
Closed lids blinded her to the silent truth.
Fantasy’s kiss is deadlier than reality’s bite.

The final coat of lipstick added a smack of perfection. Amanda stood and twirled. Rhinestones danced in the bright stage lights. This was it, her debut performance. Tomorrow the papers would sing of praise.
If only toilet paper could shout from its ride on her shoe.

The scent of shampoo and grilled cheese filled her nose as her son filled her arms. A contented sigh rose in unison from both. Dirty dishes filled the sink and socks lay on the floor. A clock ticked as the minutes passed. Minutes forever gone yet forever treasured.

Fingers fly across the keys. A grin cannot be helped. Sweet satisfaction flavors the final words. All is done. Words are counted. A challenge entered. An itch is scratched.
