This is seemingly a bold, 'unpolitically correct' statement for these times in America, but is true nonetheless. We were born out of a Judeo-Christian 'crucible', and our founders, the vast majority of which were Christian, created unique opportunities and responsibilities for us as Christians living here.
This bold, new, idea they had was for a system of governance that would provide a protective 'wrapper' for the Church, and a platform for the expansion of God's Kingdom and ultimate evangelization, of the world. It would become a 'Republic' system, not a democracy, with shared branches of government, the foundations of which were the Judeo-Christian faith, and the active participation of Christians.
The Church (that's you and me) in this nation has the unique position of having not only the privilege of selecting and voting on those who will rule over us, but in our unique system, the RESPONSIBILITY.
But something happened-the American Church,at some time in the past, went to sleep, and disengeged from our culture. We are now reaping the results of that inactivity.
So what do we do now?
As the Church, we ARE God's plan for a Godly government and culture. He uses PEOPLE to get His work accomplished. There is no Plan B. Prayer and Godly living are, obviously very important, but too often today, we hear that they're the ONLY things we are to do. No one in the Bible just sat and prayed only. They prayed, and then got out 'there' and got busy being salt and light wherever God placed them. If the Israelites had simply sat and prayed about taking the Promised Land, they'd still be sitting there. Prayer is essential, but is just the first step towards ACTION. We must pray, then WORK. Yes, we need to pray and humble ourselves. And then we need to roll up our sleeves and get busy in government, business, education, media, the arts and entertainment, etc, taking back from the devil that which has been lost by a Church that has been asleep.
Everyone gripes about the condition this country is in, but the ACLU, homosexuals, muslims, etc are not to blame. IT IS THE FAULT OF THE CHURCH IN AMERICA! That's me and you.
The hour is late, and much in our culture has been handed to the devil with not even so much as a word. As American Christians, it is the hour that we must rise up and stand for God. It is a time for courage and action, and a time for heroes of the faith to stand and be counted for God.
The war for the heart and soul of Christianity and the nation that God created is real and it is at our doorstep. We can no longer look the other way, and say "well, it doesn't concern me".
Apathy is no longer an option.
The question is, what will we leave our grandchildren as a legacy?
What can we do? Vote! Get informed. Write letters to the editor of your local paper about current issue from a Biblical worldview. Contact your State and Federal elected representatives about religious issues that will effect you and the Church. Run for a local office! There are countless other ways to impact our culture, but the bottom line is, make your voices heard in some way as God leads you. If you don't, the devil surely will.
We are locked in a life and death struggle for the very existence of our heritage and Christian freedoms in America.
As an American Christian it is your duty to engage in this battle, and as Christians, we WILL be held accountable.
I loved this article! You are so right Paul. The Christian church is asleep at the wheel and the Devil is steering the vehicle. But thanks to you and I am sure there are others out there, as members of the Body of Christ, we can rise up and take a stand!
God bless you!
