Is anything to hard for the LORD? At the ..... time appointed..... I will return unto thee...9-23-07 Lesson "Abraham and Hagar Have A Son "Ishmael" Lesson coming from Genesis 21:9-21

Sharing my notes from my sunday school lesson for September 16, 2007.

The sunday school lesson seems to me to be fitting for this season -- I am looking at the spiritual side.

Key Verse -- Genesis 18:14 "Is anything too hard for the Lord?"

9-16-07 Lesson "God Told Abraham That Him and Sarah Would Have A Son Issac" Lesson coming from Genesis 15:5-6, 18:11-14; 21:1-18

Genesis 16:1-6 Sarai suggested/told Abraham to take her maid servant Hagar

9-23-07 Lesson "Abraham and Hagar Have A Son "Ishmael" Lesson coming from Genesis 21:9-21 (next week I plan to share my notes on this lesson)

Now if you go to Genesis 25:1-5 Abraham took a wife and her name was Keturah.....Now if you go to I Chronicles 1:32......

Acts 2:11 -- Day of Pentecost --- Cretes & Arabians we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.

Genesis 21:11-13 --- God told Abraham that he would bless Hagar's son (the bondwoman) And also of the bondwoman will I make a nation, because he is thy seed (Hagar's son "Ishmael")

Let's look at Abraham -- A man of faith, Believed in God, Lineage, Race, Father, Founder: Jewish, Arabs & Christians.

Genesis 15:5-6, 18:1-15; 21:1-8

verse 5 - And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them; .......and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be. (Hebrews 6:14 - reference scripture)

THE HEBREWS

verse 6 - he believed in the LORD,

"he" - Abraham MAN REDEEMED, Justification, Faith The Instrumental Cause (Galatians 3:6; 5:5; James 2:23)

Genesis 18:11-14

verse 11 - 13 ------ THE FAMILY, Parents & Children, Barrenness, Miraculously Removed

verse 11 -- Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age; and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women.

verse 12 -- Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, "my lord" being old also?

"my lord" - Abraham

Did Sarah think that since she was passed child bearing years that the Lord had made a mistake?

verse 13 -- the Lord said unto Abraham, Where fore did Sarah laugh saying, Shall I of a surety bear a child, which am old?

God knows what we are thinking whether we say it out loud or not...God knows everything...

verse 14 -- Is anything to hard for the LORD? At the ..... time appointed..... I will return unto thee

MIRACLES, Miracles Considered, Miracles Foretold

Genesis 16:1-6

Other Nations, Offshoots of the Abrahamic Stock, Ishmaelities Sarai being barren giveth Hagar (Egyptian) to Abram

Genesis 21:1-8

verse 1,2,5,6,7 --- Miracles, SuperNatural Bodily Gifts, Gift of Children

(Jesus Christ human birth was/is a MIRACLE -- Matthew 1:18-21, 24, 25 & Luke 1:26-31, 34, 35, 38, 42)

The LORD visited Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did unto Sarah as he had spoken.

GOD KEEPS HIS PROMISES...HIS WORD IS TRUE...GOD ONLY HAVE TO SPEAK...

Sarah conceived and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the... set time....of which God had spoken to him.

KEY WORD -- set time, GOD TIMETABLE IS NOT LIKE my timetable, GOD IS THE MAKER OF TIME, ETERNAL, ETERNITY

Abraham was 100 years old, when his son Issac was born

Sarah said God hath made me to laugh, all that hear will laugh with me.

"JOY" -- if anyone have ever had a baby when you get your very first look at your child that is a feeling that words can not explain.

verse 3 -- THE FAMILY, Parents and Children, Naming at Birth

Abraham called the name of his son that was born unto him, whom Sarah bare to him, Issac

(In the Bible, and at one time and maybe still now names did have a significant meaning)

verse 8 -- THE FAMILY, Parents and Children, Care of Infants Nursing

the child grew, Abraham made a great feast the same day that Issac was weaned.

verse 4 -- Sacred Rites & Forms, Circumcision, Applied by Abraham

Abraham circumcised his son Issac being 8 days old, as God had commanded him.

Scripture reference taken from KJV, Topical Bible, Crusade Bible Publishers, Inc., Mt. Juliet, TN
