It was one of those times that the pressures of life were attacking on every side. Like a ferocious lion, they threatened to devour her. She thought about going back to bed and trying to hide from them, but she knew they’d find her. Everything is in a shambles, she whined. At that point, hopelessness and despair were hot on her heels; she could see the dark cloud over her shoulder. God, what about the verse where You don’t give me more than I can handle? “Well, if you were half the Christian you pretend to be you wouldn’t even be in this situation! You must be doing something wrong – again.” Great, the voice of condemnation is here! Come join the party!
Somehow, amidst all that was vying for her attention, a small voice beckoned her to her journal and she began to write. The words flowed from her pen so quickly she wasn’t even sure what she’d find on the page when she reread it all later. Some prayers, some trying to make sense of the last several months were all coming to life on the page. Amazed, she realized as she wrote, the darkness that seemed so close, so ready to completely envelop her was beginning to dissipate. The words and tears continued to flow until she felt exhausted and emptied.
“Good, now you can listen to Me,” said the small Voice that she finally recognized. “Speak, Lord, I am listening,” she said humbly. He took her on another journey through the events of the last several months. Hand in hand with Him her life didn’t seem so overwhelming anymore. They stopped for a moment at the problems with her son. The Lord gently reminded her that her son belonged to Him. He had a call on his life and she knew it. “Why do you think this is happening, My child? Who do you think is responsible for this?” Shocked, it all made sense to her now. Her enemy was pulling out all the stops to keep her distracted and doubting! It was such a cheap shot, but sadly she knew it had worked for awhile. “Lord, I’m so sorry. I never looked at it that way before. Please forgive me.”
“I forgive you. Let’s move on.” He brought to the other areas of struggle in her life, one by one. She realized at each stop that the devil had used those events in her life to keep her from pursuing her call. Instead of fear and hopelessness, she was filled with righteous anger. Before He left, He reminded her of the story of Peter walking on the water in the Bible. Once Peter took his eyes off Jesus, he sank. She realized that Jesus had just done the same for her and rescued her from the pounding waves. Gratitude now overwhelmed her.
Renewed faith and hope chased away all her doubts and fears. She realized that her foe was defeated. All he had done in her life to date had only strengthened her beyond her wildest imagination. She couldn’t wait to get her hands on the next Goliath that Satan dared put in her path. “Greater is He that’s in me than he that is in the world. Bring it on Satan. Jesus and I will be waiting!”
“For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

Amen. Keep on writing. You have a wonderful style.
