For I am the Lord
your God,
the Holy One of Israel,
your Savior.
[Isaiah 43:3]
*************************
"Lord?"
"What, child."
"Do I really need a Savior?"
"You tell Me."
"Well.....I don't KNOW.
I mean, how stuff have
I DONE, anyhow?"
[PATIENT SILENCE.]
"Well.
(pause)
Yeah, Lord; I can remember,
one time - this was, like, years ago -
when my landlord asked me
if I had a cat, downstairs
in my apartment."
[NOD.]
"I told him,
'No."
[SILENCE.]
"I actually had two."
[SOLEMN NOD.]
"But......like, that's
about it.
(silence)
That was IT, Lord."
"Ah. I see."
"I think that's pretty
good, for a half of
century - and -
a year, Lord."
[NOD.]
"Child, to Whom are
you speaking?"
"Eh......You know.....YOU."
"And, Who is That,
My precious?"
"Uh, well......some people
call You, Jesus."
"And, what do you
call Me, child?"
"Eh......my Landlord, Upstairs?"
[LAUGH]
"Hey, Lord?"
"Yes, My child?"
(silence)
"It was really three."
[NOD.]
"And, that wasn't counting
the one out on the balcony."
"I love you, child."
(silence)
"Lord?"
"Yes, little one?"
"I guess I need a Savior."

.....You shall know that I,
the Lord,
am your Savior
and your Redeemer,
the Mighty One of Jacob.
