"The Lord will fight for you, you need only to be still."-Exodus 14:14
Holy Spirit-have your way in this word today. Amen
God spoke these words unto some frightened Jews. We all have some big bodies of water in front of us, and often times they are raging and taunting us "I dare you to pass through, just see what will happen!" Unfortunatly, we are not strong enough to swim past raging tides and torrential currents, we would drown on our own. But FORTUNATLY all our God has to do is a lift a finger and the waters will part! Its not even an effort for God to fight for us. Sometimes, its just an effort on our part to ask.
Thank goodness a faithful man named Moses asked God on behalf of his people to fight their battles. If he didn't do that, they would still be slaves to the Pharoah. Who amoung us wants to be a slave to the enemies schemes? We don't want to build his "pyramids" and further his kingdom, do we? The Pharoah is an analogy of this lifetimes as well.....the Jews were the inheritance of Gods promises and blessings. God called them righteous. And they were serving a scumbag, LOL. The Pharoah got them thinking "this is a good as it gets. You will serve me, and build me up, and there aint nothing anybody can do about it! You're too scared to challenge me, so you are SLAVES!" They were slaves to fear, therefore, they were slaves to the Pharoah.
When we are slaves to fear, we become slaves to the enemy. When we fail to call upon God, the devil gets his way. Be still. Go ahead, gloat in the enemies face! Your God will part the sea :) Theres another awesome story about how God freaked out the Jews enemies. Lets go to Assyria, in 2Kings Chapter 18-19. The King of Assyria says this in Ch 18 verse 30 "Do not let Hezekiah persuade you to trust in the Lord when he says "the Lord will surely deliver us, this city will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria." The Assyrian king was trying to scare the people of Judah by telling them, No, this won't happen, God will not rescue you, even though your leader tells you He will.....even though God Himself told the Jews they were going to win! The kings point was-all of the other cities he had conquered had also prayed to their gods, and they were overtaken, but the difference in the case of the city of Judah was that their God is ALIVE and REAL and the king of Assyria finally met his match! Their men weren't stronger, wiser or more skilled in military matter than any other city that went up against Assyria. They just had a mighty God on their side!
We are no stronger, braver, wiser or better than any other people on earth. We just serve a mighty God will will make our enemies a footstools under our feet! Let the Lord fight your battles. Surely, like all the righteous before you, you will be victorious!
