Christian Zionism is at best oxymoronic and at worst pure heresy. It gives equal credence to the old Mosaic law of sin and death, and the law of grace and truth that flow from the cross of Christ. It is dangerous as well as illogical. It is sneaking up on good, honest people in the guise of Christianity per se. It has as its proponents the devil and his minions dressed as angels of light. It is a wolf in sheep's clothing permeating the Body of Christ. And it's growing fast both politically and religiously. Basically, it insists that the Jews are still God's chosen people, that when the third temple is built in Jerusalem and the Jews assembled there, Armageddon will arrive. For this reason they see no point in trying for peace in the MidEast (or anywhere else for that matter). They have appointed themselves prognosticators and helpers of God to bring about the end of the world as soon s possible, which is pretty arrogant in and of itself. I remember God's answer to Job's questioning, "Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth?" Exactly. There is a mighty chasm between Creator and His creation.
"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor or your ways My ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:8,9
"But of that day and hour (end of the world) no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only." Matt. 24:36 (No guessing or help needed by earthbound mortals!)
"For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. THERE IS NEITHER JEW NOR GREEK, there is neither slave nor free, there is neiher male nor female for you are all ONE in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ's, then you are ABRAHAM'S seed and heirs according to the promise." Gal. 3:27-29
"I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No man comes to the Father but by me." John 14:6
The old law of sin and death was nailed to the cross. The law of grace and truth has come by Jesus Christ and supplanted the old Mosaic law. The 7th chapter of Hebrews explains the complete superiority of Christ over the old law and His abrogation of it. One cannot hold to both as equal. Christ is either all or nothing at all.
"But now we have been delivered from the old law having died (been baptized into Christ) to what we were held by, so that we should serve in the newness of the Spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter." Rom. 7:6
The law of grace and truth successfully replaced and abrogated the old law of sin and death. It is impossible that they should exist side by side, that is, if one believes the Holy Scriptures.
I beg you, brothers and sisters, study for yourselves the Word of God. It is promised that the Holy Spirit will lead you into all truth if your heart is open and seeking His will. John 16:13

By Christian Zionist do you mean a specific group or do you mean "Zionist who is a Christian"? which might have a number of motives. I have no desire to bring about the end times. As for having no desire for peace in the Middle East that presumes that the Middle East would be peaceful without Israel which is highly unlikely. If indeed "I see no point in seeking peace" it is because I am not greatly fond of America being played for a fool every few years. I see plenty of theoretical point in seeking peace but that requires willingness on all parties. I support Israel out of personal sympathy and desire to continue to do so. They are plucky and civilized folk, are one of the few Democracies in the area and have a historic relation with America. That is more then adequate reason.
Aline,
God told us in His word the reason for selecting the Jews to be caretakers of that word and suffer through many centuries of persecution as a result. He called them, "a stiff-necked, stubborn people." You need a stubborn streak to undergo their trials. That is the same reason they stubbornly cling to the law and refuse to accept the one they rejected 2000 years ago.
But Zachariah and Paul told of the day they will be forced by the circumstances surrounding them to admit their error and join the one they despised as the bastard son of Joseph. Unfortunately, only about a third of them will open their eyes and be saved by that same blood in which we trust. 144,000 of them will fearlessly continue in (what should be) our missionary tradition today at the risk of their earthly lives.
These Jews are our brothers. They just don't know it ...yet!
