Just sharing some thoughts

As I tried to go to sleep a couple nights ago, I was listening to our local channel 39. (christian television) A national show happened to be playing. The person preaching, who I will not name, started talking of God's blessings. I suppose to my surprise, or to my chagrin I listened as "God's blessings" got very exact, . . . as in money. "Already richer than I can even imagine". Yes, I thought, until it was evident that he was now specifically talking about money. Seeing it, believing it,knowing it is coming, etc.

As I lay there I told myself to give benefit of doubt, after all, perhaps I was wrong about what he was speaking. Whatever he meant I knew that God's blessings can be an inifinite amount of different things.

Just then though, felt as though the Lord spoke to me. It was as if the Lord was showing me how so many of the churches have gotten askew, some completely off. It seemed as though in just an instant He was speaking to me of how so many are busy "teaching" each other how to be the head and not the tale, how to walk in their appointed gifts, etc., and how often that so much time is spent preaching and teaching the church, that there is often very little time to "go out" and preach the good news to those who do not yet know.

Love God, love others and go into the world and preach the good news.

All those "other" things, the gifts, the this or that, even things in our own life just happen or are given along the way when we are doing what He asked first and foremost.

I have multiple gifts of God. That's what they are too, gifts. What does that mean? "I" had nothing to do with it. Do I use them? Yes, as He sees fit and when He sees fit. I don't have to go to a seminar to "learn" what no man can give.

I think so much of the preaching and teaching has gotten to the "you need to be this way or that" and "here's how to do this or that" instead of "there are lost and dying in this world and you know the Who they need." True we call no one nor do we save anyone. However, if we are distracted or focused on the wrong areas then we're more than likely going to miss the opportunities to do as He has asked.

To put the focus on anything, even good godly things, is to take the focus off of where it needs to be, which is on Him and walking out the purpose He has for us here.

Concentrating on gifts or blessings or how to get blessed is nothing more than being one standing saying yeah I believe, but with hands out, waiting for what He will give us. We need to be the opposite position, looking up crying out Lord Lord what can I give You today? What would You have me do?

Whether He chooses to "bless" or not, is He not still God? Did He not create us, make Himself real to us, die for us? If He did nothing more, do we have any right to be unsatisfied?

We are to be content wherever we are. We are also supposed to be sold out for Him, now doing His will.

We are to tell the good news, which is Him that came and died for all to make a way where there was no way, how He rose again and IS, and how the same hope we had is the same One they have.

We cannot do that when our gaze never comes off the mirror or ourselves or our own or our circumstances.

The "small c" church I think has gotten askew. Where are the foot soldiers that are asking for absolutely nothing except to do His will? Where are the ones that do not have hands extended but just love the Lord with all they are? Lastly, if we truly love, where is our burden for all those that do not yet know Him? Do we long for them? He does.

If you died today, are you absolutely certain that you would go to heaven? You can be! TRUST JESUS NOW
