And Peter answered Him,
Lord if it is You,
bid me come to You
on the water.
He said,
Come.
[Matthew 14:28-29]
***************************
"Lord?"

"Yes, child?"

"I've been asked why I don't
write more about the
NEW Testament."

[NOD.]

"I don't know........"

"You don't, child?"

"Well, I know why.
I think mostly because
I'm not comfortable
with It."

[SILENCE.]

"I just always thought
it was the Book of the
Gentiles."

"I understand."

"And......well,
also because of all
the singing."

"Where is there singing,
child."

"Uh.....didn't those guys
sing, before the angel
came to get them out of
jail?"

"Where is that, child."

"I don't KNOW!
This Bible's so BIG;
how can I tell where
ANYTHING is?"

"Look."

"I'm looking, LORD!
It's somewhere in
Acts, I think."

[PATIENT SILENCE.]

"Maybe this is it:

....Peter was sleeping
between two soldiers,
bound...and sentries
before the door were
guarding....
and behold, an angel of
the Lord appeared,
and a light shone in the
cell;
and he struck Peter on the
side and woke him up,
saying: Get up quickly!
[Acts 12:6-7]

Hey, Lord?
Why did that angel
smack Peter, like that?
That wasn't very nice."
Why didn't he just,
like, whisper to him,
or somethin'?"

"Have you found the
singing, yet, child?"

"Uh, uh. But, I
know it's in there."

[MORE PATIENT SILENCE.]

"Also......I think there's
all these riddles.......
not to mention, the
singing."

"Ah."

"I don't think you can
really be comfortable
with this New Book,
unless you're,
You know.....
like, musically inclined."

"Yes. I see that."

"You said it, Lord!"

[PATIENT NOD.]
"You haven't made
the leap yet, child."

(whisper)
"Hey, Lord: You
and I BOTH know
my leaping days
are OVER."

"No, child."

"WHAT?"

"My precious,
you haven't even
left the boat, yet."
****************************
So Peter got out of the boat
and walked on the water
and came to Jesus;
but when he saw the wind,
he was afraid,
and beginning to sink
he cried out,
Lord save me!
[Matthew 14:29-30]
