(This poem is about a precious "little one" by the name of Ann. She reminded me of a wounded bird. The Lord sent her into my life in 1973. She has lived in Texas for many years, while I've stayed here in Ohio, but our "God-given" love for each other has not diminished. Our meeting, and subsequent friendship, along with the honor of leading her to a relationship with Jesus, taught me a valuable lesson concerning forgetting about myself and reaching out to touch another with His love.)
One day I found a little bird
all torn and bruised by life,
and looking in it's eyes I knew
it had known pain and strife.
Oh how I loved this little one
so frail and weak within,
and drawing it close within my arms
I found the cause, it was sin.
Each day my love grew stronger
for this gift God sent to me,
until love swallowed up the bad
and good was all I could see.
Many gifts my Father sends to me-
with love He sends them all,
but the timely gift of this precious one
is the greatest of them all.
For when I met this little one,
so frail and weak was I;
in giving love I too grew strong
and shall be grateful until I die.
Though we have gone our separate ways
I shall not soon forget
the love that blossomed in my heart
the moment that we met.

Timely gift indeed! And you, my friend, are a gift to us! I read this and my heart just swelled. This is a beautiful example... just how it should be with a Christian heart, that we love one another, that we look for the good in others, that we reach out with the Love of Christ to those who are downhearted, regardless of how it is that they got there.
What a sweet poem. I have a special place in my heart for little ones too, and also had the pleasure of indirectly being involved in a special boy's coming to Jesus. It was awesome! Thanks for sharing.
Dear Barbara,
This poem is so gentle and sweet, yet so strong in the faith of Lord Jesus. I enjoyed reading it.
Oh, and I have not heard from our mutual friend in months, but last news from her was she is very busy working and praising God and thanking Him for all He has done for her family.
Take care,
Jacque
PS; I've been watercoloring and not writing lately!!:^O
