In that day
the Lord will whistle
for the fly
which is at the sources of the
streams of Egypt,
and for the bee...........
[Isaiah 7:18]
***************************
"Lord?"
"What?"
"What do You mean, 'what'?
What am I supposed to do?"
"'Bout what."
"Aw, LORD! You know what
I mean! Come ON!
What am I supposed to be....."
"Be what."
"Be DOING: DOING!
Come on, Lord!
Tell ME!"
"Just be, child.
Just be."
(silence)
"What.
What bee.
What was that, Lord?
Bee?
Bee what?
Justin Bee?
Who's he?
What bee?"
[LAUGH.]
"Where did You say that?
I'm too sleepy, Lord;
I don't feel like looking
up that concordance thing.
There's a picture of a kitten
on the cover - and there
aren't even any kittens in
Your Book. So THERE!"
(blow a raspberry)
"Your Lord is all patient
and slow to anger, precious."
"I think that's really good, Lord.
So, what's with the bee?
I don't understand; where
IS he? And, what did HE do?"
"Listen, child."
"I am, Lord!
But, I don't get all the time
when You talk in these riddles and
stories. I'm not that smart."
[PATIENT SMILE.]
"Listen to Me, child."
"Okay. I'm listening.
What? I don't understand
what You said about the bee,
before.
[giggle]
Or, before the bee."
[SILENCE.]
"Justin's a modern name, Lord.
I don't think there WAS a Justin
in Your Book. Huh?"
"Are you listening, child?"
"LORD! You KNOW I'm listening!
I ALWAYS listen to YOU!
You know THAT!
I always listen!
Always!"
[PATIENT SILENCE.]
"Okay.
I'm listening.
Here I am.
I'm a listener.
I am, Lord.
I'm listening.
Really."
[SILENCE]
(look up, hopefully;
waiting on Him)
[PATIENT SMILE.]
"This is what I said to you, My child:
Just Be.....
for Me."
*****************************
Then Samuel said to Saul,
Stop! I will tell you
what the Lord said to me
this night.
And he said to him,
Say on.
[1 Samuel 15:16]
