I am nurturing and I am commanding
I have cried tears and I have dried tears
I have wiped noses and I have washed floors
I have laughed loudly and I have wept silently
I have held it together and I have torn it apart
I have screamed in pain and I have whispered in prayer
I have stood my ground and I have bowed to my knees
I have demanded to be heard and I have suffered in silence
I have felt smarter than others and I have felt stupider than most
I have trusted my Lord and I have questioned my God
I have hoped for the love of my life and I have wished I’d never found him
I have been thin and I have been…not so thin
I have wanted to be taken care of and I have yearned for independence
I am a contradiction
I am a unique and wonderful creation
