On a cold wintery night back in 1973.
A tale of mystery still so hard believe.
Of a Omen from God we did recieve.
In my moms cozy kitchen were we sisters three.
Gracie,little sister Margie and me
just drinking coffee an feeling free
A closness we shared on that night
letting our worries take thier flight
By the bedside of our dad many days we had sat.
His thin body so racked with pain,
Relief from his torture was all he ask
Our Sister Gracie was the strong one
never did her duty she shun
We had took a break from the hospital stay
We all went home to rest for the day.
We were oh so tired, but could not sleep
so a look back at our past we peeked
we taked and laughted with such glee
ot knowing the impending sorrow we'd see.
in the early morning hours the messenger came
we heard the footsteps upon the porch, an off again.
We held our breath for the knock on the door
Our hearts with fright frozen to the core
We three hurried to look outside
and found only the cold of winter reside
Puzzled, but not for very long
Soon we heard the ringing of the phone
Your dad has passed on we were told
we clung to each other, an tried to be bold
We knew then the angels had come
to forwarn that to death he had sucumbed
There's a guardian angel for all God's redeemed
to keep us safe from dangers seen an unseen
An omen from God we witnessed that night.
