From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. Psalm 61:2
It is good to have a place that is higher than myself. A child, when plagued by something with which he cannot cope, runs into the arms of his father who lifts him above his difficulty. There the child finds respite and protection and a much different vantage point from which to assess the situation.
Often we, as God's children, are overwhelmed when contending with life on our level. How wonderful to have the "Rock", our Heavenly Father, that is higher than us.
And this Rock is not an unfeeling stone but He is "touched with the feeling of our infirmities" and can perfectly identify with the every difficulty and struggle. Praise the Rock of Ages, my Rock for all stages of my life.
