"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me".
I think about these words very often, especially during really difficult times. And these are very difficult times we're living in right now. The world is clearly divided into separate camps--camps of wealth and poverty, camps of disbelief and belief. So many issues, so little time to sort it all out.
I say, "I can't do that!"
Jesus says, "Sssh. You can do that!"
"How?" I ask. "I just don't have the energy to face that right now."
Jesus says, "Of course you don't. You're tired. But I DO. I have the strength, and the knowledge, and the power. Will you let me work through you for a while? You rest--I'll do all the work."
Now who in their right mind would turn an offer like that down? But many of us do. Why? Because we must offer OURSELVES to his service. We must lay aside SELF and we all know that is one of the hardest things we face as follower's of Jesus. It is so very hard to take our eyes off of ourselves and see other things.
I sigh. "Okay. That sounds good to me. What should I do?"
Jesus smiles. "Just let me work within you. Let me use you to work my mission. Will you do that?"
I'm not going to answer that for that is a question we should all ask ourselves every day. No one can answer it except you.
When we chose to follow Him, we presented ourselves as living sacrifices to Him. Though we may fail at times at this, this is still our calling. This is why we have been born again. This is what we must reach for and remember. We are His, not our own.
"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
I can, with Him, because in Him I am strong.
Without Him I am weak--nothing. The world is a cold, dark, and bleak place without Him. I don't live there, praise God! I live in the warmth of His light and His love. I would say that I am blessed indeed, outer appearances to the contrary.
YES!! YES!! YES!! God's timing never ceases to amaze me. My "world" has been so hectic lately. I can't even begin to describe it here. But it's been so bad that I haven't had much time to even sit and do one of my favorite pasttimes (read at FaithWriters). Had a little time this morning, however. And what should I find???? PERFECT timing... as always with God. YES!! Yes, I CAN! Thank you so much for the obedient sharing.
