Mightier than the thunders
of many waters,
mightier than the waves
of the sea,
the Lord on high is mighty!
[Psalms 93:4]
*************************
"Lord?"
"Yes, child?"
"So.....You know what I'm
thinking all the time?"
"Yes, child."
"So, if I say it,
I won't, like, get struck
by a bolt of bananas
or anything?"
[SILENCE.]
"Oh, okay. I may as
well just spit it out, then."
"Spit, child."
"Well, You know that
I often think that You're
not big enough......"
[NOD.]
"....You know...."
"Go on."
"...well....for..."
"I'm listening."
"...For, You know...."
"What, child?"
"For my problems, that's all."
"Ah. Is that all, child?"
"Well, for a start.
I guess that'll do, for right now.
I'm sure I'll have some other
kvetching, later."
[NOD.]
"Well, I'm sorry, Lord!
But, You know!
Just look at my life:
it's been nothing but a MESS!
I don't see a whole lot of
might there, at ALL!"
[SMILE.]
"WHERE'S THE MIGHT?
I DON'T SEE IT!
WHERE IS IT?
WHERE?"
"Are you breathing, child?"
(silent thinking)
"Yeah. I guess;
I mean, I just ate some
rainbow flavored sherbet."
(burp)
"Very good, child."
"But, that's nothing, Lord!
Look at what all these
other people are doing!"
"What other people, My precious?"
"All these....other people!
They're all so successful!
Just look around!
What about ME?"
"What does My Word say, child?"
"Huh? Lord! You stopped me
in the middle of a good
kvetching, here!
Okay, let me look.
Here's something:
Before I formed you
in the womb
I knew you.
[Jeremiah 1:5]
I can't believe that, Lord.
I mean that You saw
what was in the making,
and didn't want to
just scrap it. Ech."
"Don't say that, child."
(silence.)
"You are Mine."
"'Sorry, Lord;
I just don't see any
family resemblance."
[SMILE.]
"But, I do, My child.
I do."

Have you not known?
Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends
of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary.
His understanding is unsearchable.
[Isaiah 40:28]
