Several of you who've been reading my work for quite some time may remember me posting the 'Extended Grace' series, a chapter by chapter account of a visit to Mt Fork River (situated in the lower foothills of Ouiachita National Pine Forest) and the presence of God, the awesome things that transpired that day, the things that brought about the epilogue to that series -- a prophetic piece entitled 'Beyond Damascus'. I have no intentions of reposting the 'Extended Grace' series at this time. But I have assured someone who never read that series that I would at least repost 'Beyond Damascus'. Therefore:
This word was given to me while sitting on a Rock after visiting Mountain Fork River, about 30 miles north of Broken Bow, Oklahoma. When I drove into McCurtain County, it was truly as though I'd driven behind a curtain, a veil of sorts. When the Blue Mountains came in view, I saw a wondrous picture of God's handiwork. But I think that perhaps that entire trip was God's handiwork. All glory to God alone! This word was given me FOR me. But I think that many may gain from it and therefore, I would like to share it with you:
I Am. And I Am He who has brought you to the place that you are now. Life is a pathway that may very well be rocky at times. But I will turn those stumbling blocks into stepping stones for you. You may not know the course of that path, but I will be your Good Shepherd and your Guide. Just trust in Me.
I will be a Light unto your path. I Am also that Great Rock in your path that you may lean upon and rest -- The Rock most pure and peaceable. Though you may stumble and fall, I Am Lord of valiant men and women who get up again. I have called you “warrior.” All fall short of the glory of God... even warriors.
I will show you the Way by putting trail markers up for you. Look for those things which are first pure and then peaceable. If they are not pure and then peaceable, they are not from Me. Just because a dogwood blossom seems of a “pretty” or of a “godly” sort, do not stray from that path to capture it.
The hills surrounding your path are dangerous and very much alive with wildlife, ticks, serpents and the like, which often hide, unseen beneath the leaves. The roaring lion sits in waiting, looking for whom he may devour. Stay on the path marked by those things which are first pure and then peaceable. I have overcome the lion and I will be your Rear Guard. I have also given you the authority to tear him to pieces with the sword, My Word. Resist him and he will flee from you. Fear not. I Am with you.
There may also be some of those hidden things which make their way onto your path. But I will be your Guide and I will point them out to you. You may trip over low lying fences or find that you’ve run into poison, but it will not be of harm to you, for I have called you “healed.”
I have also called you a “pillar” of My church. And I have called you “the salt of the earth.” I Am your Foundation. I have told you not to lose your saltiness. Now, I say to you, do not turn back. You must remember from where you came so that you do not forget how you got to where you are presently. It is the desire to not only look back, but to turn back that could cause you (being a pillar and the salt of the earth) to become a “pillar of salt.” Therefore, I say to you, desire not the old paths. But behold, I have laid a pathway before you beyond Damascus. Follow what is first pure and then peaceable.
There are many things that I place in your path by grace. Those things do not belong to you. They are Mine. They are Mine, but I have put them in your path as an extension of My grace toward you. Abundant Life is extended to you. And My abundant grace is extended to you. You will have beheld My abundant Life and My extended grace when you have held those things in your hands. When they pass their extended grace period, like an old car, leave the keys on the Rock. I will provide for you through all of My riches and glory. When I ask you to leave what you have in My hands, know that I have all treasures on earth and in heaven and anything that you give back to Me will either be replaced for you out of those abundant treasures or I will extend its grace period further. But you must first give back to Me what is Mine. But all things ARE Mine. Therefore, give them ALL back to Me.
A River of Living Water runs alongside your path. My voice is the sound of many rushing waters. Listen to the sound of many rushing waters. When you look at that River, you may see white-capped waters breaking into dark blue over the rocks, the sunlight dancing across it, all surrounded by pines and dotted with the lavender of new spring growth. That vision is the breathtaking sight of grace. That vision is not yours. It is Mine. It is grace extended to you. Give it back to Me and I will show you the Life within those waters -- that most colorful rainbow trout, the Life within the whispering pines -- children laughing in joy when they have, themselves, discovered Life -- that little boy who has caught a quick lizard in the crevices of the rocks. I put those lizards there for him as an extension of My grace. And I have put him there as an extension of My grace toward you.
My grace can be seen in an old man fishing with his grandson. My grace is seen in an old man who has never enjoyed his life more than he enjoys it now... while he sacrifices the life he once knew to help others and provide for the “PeaceMakers.” Besides abundant Life, My grace for you thus far has been the lone wildflowers, the butterflies and dogwood blossoms, dancing rays of sunlight, an old man and his grandson in your path. Give them all back to Me. I know that you love them. Give them back to Me. Leave them on the Rock like those keys. Trust Me with them. They are, after all, Mine.
As you walk in the path that I have designed for you alone, tell the world what great things the Lord has done. Run and you’ll not grow weary. Walk and you’ll not faint. I have given you extended grace in the form of eagle wings as well. Those who look up at their problems see them enlarged. But you soar high above them and they become very small. Then, you have seen them through My eyes. Nothing is too big for Me. Ask of Me and see if I will not open the windows of heaven for you. You have not because you ask not. Be specific when you ask and doubt not. Without faith, it is impossible to please Me. If it becomes dark, ask of Me and see if I will not even delay the sunset for you. Even the setting sun is Mine. And then look to Me. I will be a Fire in the night for you. I will also be a Shadowing Cloud for you in the heat of daytime.
He who loves his life (and you have) will lose it (and you have) and he who hates his life in this world (and you have) will gain it for eternal life. YOU HAVE GAINED ABUNDANT, ETERNAL LIFE. You have also gained the breathtaking beauty of extended grace, the same grace by which you have been granted eternal life.
Be still and listen to the sound of many rushing waters. Therein are your directions. Therein is Life. I Am. And no matter how rocky or how scenic the pathway, I Am still your Guide. Look beneath the Waters. Look behind the pines. Look inside... look inside the heart of My handiwork and find Life, first pure and then peaceable. Open your eyes and see beyond what is in your pathway. See men as more than just trees, walking. See what I see. See extended grace.
Follow those trail markers that are first pure and then peaceable, because following them will keep you on the right path. And someday, that pathway will lead you home.
James 3:16-18 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.
Mark 8:23-25 And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought. And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking. After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.

Life is a pathway that may very well be rocky at times. But I will turn those stumbling blocks into stepping stones for you...Such uplifting words! This article has blessed me today. Thanks for sharing and keep writing for His glory.
I hear the sound of the Mighty Rushing Water. There is movement in the Spirit. I also realize the many extensions of His grace to me. This spoke volumes to me. Thank you.
Joyce, this article is so awesome, and truly a message given to you from God. While I was reading it I was reminded of the story of Pilgrim's Progress. I don't know if you have ever read it, being that you are much younger than I am, but in case you want to read it, I looked it up on Google. Here is one of the links - (I hope it works as a live link, but it not, you can copy and paste it if you want to read it.) Your descriptions of the journey Beyond Damascus were breathtaking and very discriptive. You take the readers right along with you in your meanderings, giving them a vivid picture of the river and of the flowers, birds, the little child, the old man and the dangers on the path. The picture at the bottom gives me the feeling that I can hear the water, smell the fresh air and touch the foliage. You lifted the reader up to the heavens. What marvellous job you have done. Your writings are truly inspired. God bless you. Thanks so much for this....Helen
Sorry Joyce, I forgot to close off the link, but it does work by clicking on the underlined section. Should have closed it after the title. There is no way of fixing an error on FW comments except by writing an additional one.
I thank God for what He places on your heart to share with me and others . This is just beautiful and soothing to my mind. You are a precious sister and faithful pen in the Hands of our merciful Lord. In His Love,Julie
How can I describe your "Beyond Damascus?" It's beyond words, beyond description. It's exquisite, masterfully crafted . It's evident that The Master Artist/Author assisted your faithful pen . Thanks for sharing what The Holy Spirit has put in your heart. It's a blessing to read over and over again. Love, Gloria
I remember this article from before Treava, but it still holds the truth and it is so well put. May I call you treava Jacob? For I have a word for you. Ps 24:3--WHO may ascend into THE HILL of the Lord? Or WHO may stand in His holy place? (4) He has has clean hands and a PURE heart, (6) This is JACOB, the generation of those who seek Him, who seek Your face, and THIS IS YOU TREAVA! I love you, Sharon
Treava...I am SO glad that you posted this, again - it is a blessing from God to all who embrace your words! God surely provides stepping stones along our path - even though worldly eyes may perceive them to be stumbling blocks. But, those who love the Lord step upon them and walk towards HIS LIGHT. How awesome to know that when we return what is God's to Him, He will joyfully provide more of what is good for us and lovingly care for what all that we returned to Him. For no one could love them more! Thank you, Treava...this was a gift from your beautiful heart! Love, Peggy
Treava, this article is fascinating to read, and it tells how everything belongs to God in such a lovely way. There is doctrine that can be found in it, and there are lessons to be learned. And the picture I just love. You put together a masterpiece in this posting. Thank you for posting it again, for I missed it the first time.
I feel the presence of the Holy Spirit when reading this - just as if He were talking to me through your pen. That is being "in touch" and obedient to your calling. Thank you. Never stop - many are being ministered to through you. In Christ's Love, Julia
