Our 17 year old son was at Kennedy Airport with members of his high school French class waiting to board the plane for a trip to Paris.
One student was very late and they thought he might miss the flight.
Suddenly he came flying around the corner with his luggage. My son stood up and waved vigorously for him to hurry.
A large woman with a lot of tattoos thought my son was waving at her.She was wearing a plaid kilt, black work boots and had big bulging biceps.
She stared for a moment, then walked over to him menacingly. She asked him why he was waving at her.
Shaking, he tried to explain that he was not waving at her, that he was waving at his friend.
The woman didn't believe him. She accused him of sexual harassment.
"No Maam!" he assured her, suddenly rubbing his side.
Nearly in tears, he told her that he had just had his appendix removed three weeks earlier and that he was too weak to harass anyone! His girlfriend stood in a corner trembling, too afraid to look.
Finally the woman left after threatening him. She told him that she would beat him to a pulp if he ever waved at her again.
My son called us, shakened and scared.
He kept saying, “She was so mad!” “Why was she so mad!?”
His father told him to go on and enjoy his trip, that he would be alright.
Just make sure he didn’t wave at anyone else!
