Here comes the high,
Feel the anointing,
That breaks spiritual sigh,
Holy Spirit not disappointing,
The fire burning aflame!
The Lord not spitting you out in shame,
‘Cause you are quite hot.
Doing exploits but a lot,
Faith keeps you aglow.
Then subtly or suddenly come the flow
Trials, temptation, struggles, conflicts, affliction
Like a flood comes persecution
The Spirit of the Lord comes with the standard
Guaranteeing there is no hazard
A resisting to the point of shedding blood
Or a yielding, a weakness that brings the rod
A grieving of the Spirit that gets the flame dim
With the seal by His mercy still intact in Him
Becoming cold but the Lord not spitting you out
Passing through the fire and the waters
The Gold comes out shinning brighter
And the concrete stronger
Or the rubble gets burnt and the wax melts
The salt dissolves losing its saltiness
Depending on either grieving or quenching
Neither grieve nor quench the Spirit!
But to grieve is better than extinguish it
Supply oil for the lamp always
While watching your ways
That the flame may remain aglow
From flickers to tongues and tongues to flickers
Quit yourself well like a good fighter
Extinguishing the Holy Spirit
Is like a withering of the branch
Severed from the Vine
Darkness! A terrible place to be!
Rather keep it aglow and continue to be Light
Let Him in you delight,
Even in lukewarm state the Lord can drink you again!
When he finds you cold or hot enough to drink,
From the truth do not shrink.
As long as you remain undetached,
Neither grief nor quench the Spirit.
