And as He passed on,
He saw Levi the son
of Alphaeus sitting
at the tax office, and
He said to him,
Follow Me.
And he rose, and followed Him.
[Mark 2:14]
******************************
"I really like this particular
Gospel, Lord."

"Why, child."

"Cuz' I can understand it.
It's written more plainly than
the other ones."

[NOD.]

"I still find myself skipping
over the bad part - at the end.
It's awful, and.... horrible."

"Read it, child.
I am with you."

"Yeah; okay.
(silence)
I think I like Mark
because It is the most....
human? I even see
some humor in It."

[NOD.]

"I always find the
parts, like this one
about Levi, really
fantastic, Lord.
I can't believe those
guys just GOT up,
and FOLLOWED Him."
(silence)
It was, like, they
heard His voice -
and that was it.
Isn't that strange?"

"No."

"Well, I think it's weird.
I mean, when we read this,
WE know Who it is, but
I mean, Levi didn't.
Who gets up and follows
some stranger just
because he says,
'follow me'?
That doesn't make
any sense."

[GENTLY.]
"You followed Me, child."

"Well, yeah, Lord.
But, I don't think it
was sudden, like that.
I mean, it's taken
years.
(silence)
And, I still feel a little
guilty about reading the
.....eh, the GOSPEL.
Even just SAYING the
word is difficult -
for somebody Jewish."

"I know."

"But, It's very
rich, and......astonishing.
It's so amazing,
that It sorta'
compels you to go
back, and read It,
again."

"Yes.
I know."
*****************************
And passing along by the
Sea of Galilee,
He saw Simon and Andrew
the brother of Simon
casting a net in the sea;
for they were fishermen.
And Jesus said to them,
Follow Me,
and I will make you
become fishers of men.
And immediately,
they left their nets
and followed Him.
[Mark 1:16-18]
