I haven’t much blessing to honor you with.
These inadequate hands bear inadequate gifts.
My inadequate heart bears inadequate pain.
This inadequate life which can’t manage the rain.
My inadequate mind steady struggling to conjure
mystical memories that sustain me no longer.
Please do forgive this inadequate soul
The inadequate honor that fails to console.
These inadequate words on inadequate paper
as my inadequate tears become inadequate vapor
My inadequate love that was flawed from the start.
The inadequate wisdom I tried to impart
The sole saving grace of this inadequate man,
assurance to see you in god’s adequate land
