"Hey Lord?"
"Yes, My child?"
"About this verse…."
"Which one, My child?"
"Isaiah 40:31."
"Oh yes, that one…how can I help you, dear one?"
"Well, you see, Lord, it says I have to wait…"
"Yes, it does."
"I hate to wait."
"I know."
"Why the waiting, then? Can't you just ZAP me with Your strength or something? Can't you just fix it now?"
"Because, child, My ways are not your ways….I am not a 'microwave' God. Have you ever heard the expression, 'You can't rush perfection?'"
"I've heard that, yes…. But, Lord?"
"Yes, child…"
"I still don't get it."
"Ok, child…tell me the verse, and we'll start from there."
"Ok, here goes... 'But they that wait upon the Lord will renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles. They shall run and not be weary. They shall walk and not faint.'"
"That was very good, dear one. And…you have already taken the first step."
"I have?"
"Yes, it is CONNECT. Connect to Me. Talk to Me. Ask Me your questions. I love to talk with you, My child. I love to answer those who seek Me."
"Wow…I didn't realize how important that was, Lord."
"It is, child."
"Ok, Lord, what is next?"
"The second step is to COMMIT, My child."
"Commit?"
"Yes, commit. Remember that "waiting" thing? It doesn't just say 'wait'; it says to 'wait upon the Lord.' That means to commit to Me, and to My plan. Even if it takes some time. I will help you, child, and give you My strength."
"You will?"
"I keep My promises child."
"Yes, you do, Lord. Is there a step 3?"
"Yes. This is the part about the eagle. You know how an eagle doesn't really fly like other birds? It kind of soars above the wind, and lets the wind take it?"
"Yes…"
"Well, child, that is how I want you to be: dignified and majestic. Flying high on a power that is not your own. I want to be the wind that helps you soar through this trial. I want to carry you, no matter long it takes. I want you to CLIMB."
"Would it help to tell you that I am scared of heights, Lord?"
"Your feet never leave the ground, sweet. We are talking spiritual heights, not real ones."
"Still sounds scary."
"Change always is, my child."
"You are right, Lord, as always."
"The last word to remember is CONTINUE."
"Continue?"
"Yes, continue. If you have My strength, you will continue. You will run and not get tired, you will walk and not give up. Use My strength, dear one. Don't give up. Keep going, even when it is hard. Rely on Me. You can only do this in My strength."
"Lord?"
"Yes?"
"Can you help me remember?"
"Yes…you should be able to remember the 4 words, right?"
"Let's see… CONNECT to You, COMMIT to Your plan, CLIMB where You carry me, and CONTINUE in Your strength without giving up."
"Exactly! Very good, dear one! I'm so proud of you!!"
"Thank you. But…Lord?"
"Yes, child?"
"I still hate to wait."
"I know. But I love you just the same."
"Thanks, Lord."
"You are welcome."
