I was working midnight shift in a Detroit suburb when I was dispatched to a larceny at the northeast 7 eleven around midnight.
I arrived with the suspects having about a 3 minute head start. The clerk described a couple 16 to 18 year old white males that could fit about 50% of the locals and advised they took a couple cases of beer.
I asked the clerk if he had access to the store video camera and he told me it was locked and only the owner had the key.
I put out what information I had to other units via radio transmission. I then told the clerk (who knows I am a Christian), “I can’t promise you apprehension, but I can give it to God who knows the suspects and will allow HIS WILL to be done in the suspects lives.” I then raised my hand and said “Lord Jesus, bring these suspects to justice!” I cleared the location and continued on my shift.
Around 3:00AM I parked across from the 7 eleven on the southeast side of the city in an auto repair shop to watch this 7 eleven with binoculars for any suspicious activity (as I often did). Shortly after parking, I saw 2 young white males come around from behind the building and go inside. The one male started to go to the restroom when a vehicle pulled up front and flashed its lights to signal the 2. Both came out and got in the vehicle. I stopped the vehicle in the parking lot of the 7 eleven and found the driver to be a 17 year old white female and the two males to be 16.
There is a curfew of 11:59PM for 16 year olds and I advised the 2 males that they were in violation of the curfew. I secured the 2 males in the back seat of my patrol car and one said, “we were on our way home and just stopped to use the restroom.” I told them, “You live 20 miles from here.” “Do your parents have any idea where you are?” They said, “no.” I advised the 2 “I owe a trust to your parents. God is the one who holds me accountable, so you are under arrest for curfew violation.” I further told them I would be transporting them to the police department where I would be calling their parents to pick them up. Both males had been drinking, but not intoxicated, the female had nothing to drink and she was released at the scene.
While in transit to the police department the one male said, “you are a nice guy, but there is no God, God is just a figment of your imagination.” I said, “God is a spirit who uses physical means to get our attention and my prayer is that He uses me to get your attention.” Both males were booked, issued violations for curfew and released to their parents.
The next day I met with the owner of the first 7 eleven where the larceny occurred to view the video tape. Yes, you guessed it the curfew violators were also the ones who took the beer. I did a supplement report, forwarded it to the detective bureau and advised the detective in charge to advise both suspects, “WHAT A MIGHTY GOD I SERVE!”

For I am not {ashamed} of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
