There are many misconceptions,
Many reasons for non-believers,
I’ll admit this world has its share
Of those that are deceivers.
And then there are those who think,
That if you “give in” you must be weak,
Or that if you give in to God,
Others might think you’re a freak.
Some think religions prey
On the desperate and weak in faith,
But there’s a difference between being “religious”
And being a true Christian who knows the Way.
A true Christian
Is one who seriously tries,
Not to go by what the world says,
But does what’s right in God’s eyes.
God’s Will is doing things,
That are loving and kind,
Not destroying those around you,
Not messing with their minds.
God’s commandments teach us
To be good to one another,
Love others as you would yourself,
And respect your father and mother.
Don’t love anything more than Him, He asks
But what happens over and over again,
Is that greed, lust, and possessions come first,
Those always lead to sin.
Don’t use His name in vain He asks,
He says we shouldn’t kill
He wants us to do these admirable things,
He wants us to do His Will.
It’s not about us,
It’s about God and His Son.
It’s about bringing Him glory,
About keeping Him as number one.
What I’ve learned in my own life,
Is there’s nothing He can’t bring me through,
I have a friend in Jesus,
Who’s always loyal and true.
Many come to Jesus,
At times of sorrow and strife,
Because they’ve hit rock bottom,
Or lost control of their life.
All else they’ve tried has failed,
They don’t know how to cope.
They’re looking for anything,
That will give them a strand of hope.
And those who are Christians,
Just want to lead others to Him,
He has brought us through so much,
And He does it again and again.
We want those who are hurting
Not to hurt because we care.
There’s nothing pretentious,
It’s true fellowship we want to share.
We have our bad times too,
But we help each other past the pain,
Through God’s grace and love we find,
We can get up again.
Have you ever had that feeling,
That someone was sent to you,
To help you out or give support,
Just when you needed them to?
There’s been so many things I’ve seen,
That can’t just be happenstance
A door that opens, where one had closed,
I can’t just chalk it up to chance.
Jesus died on the cross for us,
History tells the story,
He gave His life for us you know,
To give His father Glory.
I want those that I care about,
To be in Heaven with me some day,
And believing He is our Savior,
Will help me get there one day.
So think it out before you dismiss it,
I suggest you even give Him a try
Would you be willing to take a chance on it
If this were the day you die?
You know, He gave us freedom to choose,
It’s up to us to discern,
If what is preached in our churches,
Is what He wants us to learn.
If you stay true to His Word though,
I feel you can’t go wrong.
And you know you have the option to switch,
If you feel a church’s ways are too strong.
If you don’t want to participate,
Nobody says you have to.
You’re the one who decides,
What you feel God wants you to do.
I won’t say our church is perfect,
I won’t say we won’t ever tell a lie,
We make mistakes and ask His forgiveness,
But we’d like for you to give Him a try.
We’ll try not to push,
We’ll let you set your own pace,
Let you decide if our church,
Is maybe the kind of place.
Where you’d like to worship Him
And join us if you could,
To do God’s Will of wonderful things,
Things that He considers good.
Our church is a mixture of all sorts of folks,
Of different backgrounds and ages,
In our walk leading us closer to Jesus,
We’re all at different stages.
My hope is that our actions
And all that we say and do,
Will reflect God’s love and kindness,
Just like He says it’s suppose to.
I’m not asking you to make a commitment right now,
I’m not asking you to make us the reason why,
I’m just asking you for a little of your time,
So that you can just give HIM a try.
